Medical check for insurance

Since my travel-insurance from Norway went out a coupple of months ago I decided to make an insurance in Thailand. I went for a good insurance from Bangkok Bank. Payed 27k for a year, and this will cover all cost with any illness or accident. I thought everything was ok, but then the agent came back to me with a letter from the head-office in Bangkok. It said that since I was a bar-owner and not married they needed a full medical check before I was aproved. It was really important to have a HIV-test since I probably had many girls in my bar . So the agent took me to Phuket/Bangkok Hospital and I had a full check of everything I was nervous for a while, but now Ive got the results, and everything was fine

The strange thing is that my friend have the same insurance (46y.o.) and dident need the same check. I was told the reason was because he was married in Thailand before, and dont have a bar. So the chance that he was butterflying was way smaller........strange rules

Anyway, my first hiv-test for allmost 2 years......allways good to know everything is ok

I think you'll find its got alot to do with the insurance company itself. I have AIA and had to have the medical with HIV test

i got life insurance just in case something happened to me, my mom would get a shitload of money. it was through my cousin so the process was very informal. i had to give blood, but really didnt ask why. i got a letter 2 weeks later saying my HIV test was negative. that was great, didnt even know i took one so wasnt worrying the whole time waiting

In OZ HIV results cannot be mailed.....you have to go back to the Doctor in person.

I had a negative HIV test this year - first exam I've ever failed - really pissed me off. Must try harder.

AIA is a life insurance company. Life insurance companies, as a rule, require HIV testing to get life/health insurance. Non-life health insurance companies, like Thai Health (THI), AXA, BUPA, LMG and IAG/NZI, don't.
