Monkeys in wild - Koh Sirae

A nice place for a daytrip, especially if you like monkeys (like me). It is a popular place among Thais and the best time to spot the monkeys is late afternoons. There may be bananas and nuts available to buy if you want to feed them.

I had monkeys coming to me and take bananas directly from my hand in the past.

After you cross the bridge, keep going along the road with the mangrove on the right. When you come to end of the mangroves, pull over and on the right near the end of mangroves, every afternoon there will be a heap of monkeys hanging around waiting for a feed.

Another place for monkeys is Khao To Sae (what I call Monkey Hill) - this is the big hill in Phuket town with all the aerials on top. Near the top is a big troop of monkeys and people come to feed them. In the late afternoon, lots of locals use the hill for exercise. It's a steep climb! You can drive up too if you are lazy, or drive half way to the temple and walk from there.

More on this hill:
