More Phone lines coming...?

Seems like there will be plenty more lines available all over the island in the near future (maybe)

From the Gazette...

When will Rawai have more phone lines?

“We are installing new telephone lines all over the country during the first three months of 2006.

A total of more than 5,000 new numbers will be available in Phuket through the 11 telephone exchanges on the island. All the new numbers will be able to provide ADSL high-speed Internet access.

We have already installed 120 new ADSL-capable lines for the Baan Lipon area in Thalang.

In Rawai, an exchange is being installed at the entrance of Wat Sawang-arom. It should be completed within six months. The exchange will provide 360 new lines that can support ADSL Internet access. ”

Dont believe em. Everytime we asked about a phone for the house at Chalong, we kept getting a different response. Then in the end they just said no more money being spent, so at least a 2 year wait.

Hopefully the fact that they are publicly saying this and have some details about what they are planning to do means they will do as they say. I guess we'll see.

I'm looking to move out of Patong in the near future but only if I can get a place that already has a phone/ADSL connection. I've heard nothing but grief from people like yourself that have asked about new lines.

They have to sort this out if they expect people to keep buying up new properties on the island. Almost everyone these days will want internet connections.
