Biogas
Just watching another show on NG, talking about biogas. Apparently in China this is a huge growth industry, powering factories and even homes. I guess this is the real shit industry. Interesting concept though.

LOL you know its something when even population control is huge !!!
They really are the next super power.. They could send the dollar into total freefall just by hinting they were selling thier deficit reserves or even that they were going to hold less of thier new ones in dollar assets..

Very true, if there is one thing i regret, its not learning Chinese instead of Japanese (which i dropped after 2 years). My mate did Chinese and is doing a commerce degree, and for his GAP year he is of to china to teach english, im sure he will be making a lot soon, China is a nation on the rise.

i dont think one individual will be able to make money out of china. i think you will still have those barriers top gte jos. but for corporations, there is tons of money to be made.
i was offered a job to open an office in bejing, but they were not offering me enough

Yer i just meant the fact he knows chinese and will be dealing with them a lot in buisness, will put him far ahead anyone else in the same industry who doesn't speak the language. Do you think you would move to bejing if the money was good enough ?? closer to LOS

Yes, company that I work for is going big into China, and I nearly got an expat posting there. Would have got extra 25% salary, extra 15 days holiday plus usual freebies like housing, flights, transport, maid, etc. Another good thing there is there are only 4 public holidays each year, but three of them are a week long!
Instead I am going to Hong Kong.
To get thread back on track, the area where my company is doing its biggest business in China is gas.

Personally I have a real curiosity about China especially Shanghai (having read a really interesting journalism piece)..
Wouldnt take much to pursuade me to go..

Me neither, Shanghai looks fantastic, new city with huge skyscrapers but also fantastic Eurpoean architecture.
My missus has a cousin in Beijing, so will probably do the two together, but not right now, it's far too cold!

i wouldnt have absolutely gone. its just what coolhand eludes to in the next post, is that the company, being from the east coast of US, didnt understand the idea of an expat package, were basically sending me out there with a salary and id have to fend on my own. if worked, wouldve made a ton, but i wanted the whole package

Bejing really impressed me. Not what I expected at all. Huge but very green. Alot of wide boulevards with manicured linear parkways. And the history is fascinating. I turned down an opportunity to work on the Three Gorges dam a couple of years ago. Would think twice about it now.
