i had to be in nyc last week on business so headed home to boston afterwards
now ive been living away from boston for 13 years, and this 10month absence from the last time i was home is by far the longest ive ever been away
im just amazed at how long ive known all my friends from home
i seriously have 10-15 really close friends and probably the shortest time ive known someone is 15 years
i went to the red sox game last saturday night with 3 friends, known them for 29, 25, 24 years!!
when my gf use to come to boston she was amazed at how many of us there were and how long we knew each other
im sure all you guys have good friends, but i wonder if like that
i think in the states its more a northeast thing
anyways, it was good to be home. missed it

My oldest friends are my cousin which is like since we were small kids, and a friend from highschool which ive been close to for about 14 years...other than that ive moved house so many times when I was growing up just lost touch with everyone..everyone I know has gone off to different parts of the world for one thing or another and eventually just lose contact...thats why I have zero emotional attachment to anywhere in the UK, easy for me to leave and not miss it.

I've got a few great friends from Aus who I went to school and Uni with and we still get together in Sydney 2-3 times a year to have a big night out......a couple have been over here in NZ to visit me too..............this is down to about 5-6 hardcore mates now with about 20 or so still good friends but only occasionally joining us.........the hardcore ones are mostly the ones who I played in bands with.......and two of them went on to become architects as well so we have that in common........

I have a theory that your circle of friends is cut by half each 10 years .........that has kinda been the experience for me anyway........

I have made a few good friends here in NZ over the last 18 months or so but it is completely different with friends who new you as a kid and continued throughout your adult life compared to someone you have just recently gotten to know.....

I have a few chaps who I've been friends with since I was in elementory school. Some 36 years. Every time I venture home we tear up the town.................nothin like ol' friends
