Fasting/Colonics
Anyone here done a strict fast (water) combined with colonics before?
Planning on doing a 1-2 week fast over at Atsumi Healing in Chalong/Rawai, just wondered if anyone has experience of doing one.
Have read quite a bit about the subject and have always been interested in the benefits people have experienced (smoking cessation, clear mind, increased energy etc..)
I used to do a 3 month detox at the start of every year which involved no smoking/alcohol, no dairy/wheat/sugar/caffeine, basically rice/fish/veggies/juices/water. Within a week or two I would feel on top of the world but the inevitable problems started as soon as I came off the diet with severe cravings for everything that I had denied myself for the previous months. I'd find myself back at square one within a few weeks back on the crap.
Colonics are always a 'fun' subject to talk about too The thought of it doesn't it exactly appeal to me, but I'm determined to do it properly.
Good article here that I always remember when talking about the subject. You probably don't want to be eating when reading it!!

I'm afraid I can't add any valued input for you....
...but I always admire ppl who have the discipline to carry out and follow those very difficult procedures in order to get a healthy body (and soul for that matter).
A very interesting read....though I found this guy, the "Worm Farmer" a bit funny in this story. If I would be a professional worm farmer, I would have my doubts to join these treatments. Could also be that just that was his motivation to do it
Thanks for the link, a good reminder to take better care of your own body.
Greetings

My friend did one in Samui as well, but the fasting takes it to a different level, not just a pop in and out in an hour, and to be honest from what I have not really much good unless you follow it up with subsequent colonics.
It's not going to be fun after years of smoking and drinking, I'm expecting the withdrawl symptoms to be horrendous...the one good thing on my side is that I have not eaten meat for about 12 years, although I did swallow a pound coin when I was a kid...would be good to see that again!

Timing is odd.. I have just started doing one day juice fasts.. Hopeing to do one day on one day off for a while as a modified 'one day diet' with masses of fruits on the day off days and none of the silly sales pitch on diet aids. As the month progresses I may work into 3 day fasts and see how I feel.
I realize a water fast longer term is a bit of a different beast than a short term juice fast as it leads to more detox etc and also that you go past the stage of hunger etc but I will be interested to hear how you do. Also with the juice fasting it helps to have fresh live fruits and juice them yourself but we are kind of limited on that front for some stuff.. So I am modifying a few parts around.. Simply put it will be an unsweetened fruit juice only one day and allow solids alternate days.. Will attempt to keep solids to healthy but the whole point of one day diet is to allow youself freedom the next day so that anything you crave is only a day away. Its not even mostly weight loss I am doing it (though that is a reason) mostly that I dont feel as healthy or high energy as I used to and its an excersize in will power.
When I was younger (mid / late teen and most of my 20's) I would naturally fast for 1 or 2 days a week due to being sometimes very busy with workloads and other times through drug use and partying.. In fact for years and years it would be normal for me to eat nothing on a sunday and a 1 day a week fast is supposed to help your system regulate.
I used to find simply not eating pretty easy and sort of simply forgot to eat much of the time when I was working 16 - 18 hour days running a biz. Living with Thai women who eat 5 meals a day is rough, mine actually gets mad and annoyed if I dont eat with her but its nuts, non stop grazing.

Yeah the booze is the odd thing.. I know thats where a huge part of my calory intake is from..
But as I said I am not doing this really about weight.. Its more energy levels.. I find myself more alert when I am hungry.. And although I was finding myself getting hunger pangs a bit I feel like I have more energy (thats why I like juice fast idea not water.. Sucrose etc ??) on no food days. More a feelgood thing.
Also want to break this forced eating thing my GF has got me into.. I never used to eat in the mornings etc and she is trying to ram breakfasts etc into me.
But you can keep your colonics !!! high pressure bum gun is the closest I need to that !!

One of the best side effects for me in visting LOS is that I lose weight and feel much better levels of energy..........
Some of this is due to the fact that I mostly eat only once per day apart from fruit and I drink loads of water due to the heat.....also I regularly exercise there.....I dive 3-4 times per day most days........
and the booze actually takes it off me pretty quick as I only drink vodka minow soda or white wine with a meal there.....
Of course aqfter a boig night out I don't feel fabulous but that first hit of oxygen usually takes care of me soon into a dive.....
I also like a 20 minute nana nap at the end of the day too.........gives me a new boost before hitting the sois......
Don't think I can handle the colonics either.......a bit too intrusive for me

Just went to the flicks with a mate over from Phi Phi, and funnily enough he had read about the place in the Phuket Post and wondered if I was interested, so now looks like I'll have some company there when I go. Not sure we will share the contents of our bowel movements though!
Juice fasting is great, have done several weeks in total before. Amazing how giving your digestion just a day or two break helps, and I never really got hungry at all. So you are doing a juice fast + coffee, lol - different I suppose.
Colonics are never a favourite when I talk to people about them. I don't see them as much of an issue, and it is more to do with the thought of having something up your **** that puts people off. I think if more people were aware of how beneficial it is and what "crap" actually comes out of you then they would be more willing to consider it. After all, it's stuff that is in your system that really should not be there, as a result of our bad diets.
Will keep a diary while I am there, maybe put a post on here every day while I am over there.

When I was researching fasting a couple of years back I saw plenty of pics of what people had been storing inside of them for years and years. If anything, it persuaded me to go ahead rather than be put off. Don't worry I won't put any pics on here, though I may be tempted if I recover that pound coin again
A stat that I always remember, and I know that they are not exactly scientific, but apparently an average meat eating middle aged western man has about a pound of undigested red meat in his system! (will try and find the source of that)

This seems to be something that gets quoted a lot of the time, usually by people offering colonic irrigation etc. But , the strange thing is , that in all the years I've worked in Operating Theatres and witnessed Gastric and Bowel surgery , I have never seen this mysterious "pound of undigested red meat".
If "Colonic Irrigation" is so beneficial and cleansing , why is it not done routinely before surgery ?? A good dose of laxatives seems to do all that is necessary , but , if you want to pay to have a hose shoved up your bum (and sh*t through the eye of a needle !!!!), then , as the Thais say "Up 2 U ".

Agree that it is not the most scientific of claims, but is it not possible for this matter to be present in the colon and intestines? If not, what exactly is still coming out of people a week after they stopped eating?

There are enough testimony's from people that have had colonic irrigation that have reported benefits for me to believe that it can beneficial for your health.
Also, I'm sure that there are hundreds of alternative treatments that could be beneficial for people in hospital, that are not part of the standard treatments.

Sorry but I consider my butt a one way orifice..
Now done 3 one day juices without being too hard but today will probably be tough (may allow myself some light fruit or fuit smoothie.. Mango and stawberry rocks).. Went on a total bender on Monday (fast day) from mid afternoon until 6 am.. Yesterday which was a food day just couldnt eat and barely got a half bowl of joak down in the evening.. Now I have recovered I am hungry and could murder a full fry up !! If I manage today thats almost a 3 dayer.. Will load up on fruit juice and see if that works.
Thats probably the hardest bit for me.. Not the actual will power or the process but managing mates, drinking, mad ones, all around some other system.
