If youy have any US military affiliation the New Sano is an excellent hotel. It is also right near Ropongi. There is also the b-Ropongi which is about a minute away from the station. The Tokyo Stay is fairly good and also close to the night life. Both hotels are around $100 USD per night and are a little on the small side. If you stay outside of Ropongi be mindfull that the trains stop running from 12:57 A.M. to 6:00 A:M. and can be confusing if you are drunk and not famailiar with the country. Its real easy to find a good club, try the gas paninc. Tokyo is VERY safe and there are not really any "shady" or unreputable areas. There are some semi-aggressive club recruiters that will try to get you into their club. Hope this helps.

The Tokyo Hyatt

not near Ropongi M26....but the Tokyo Hyatt is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in.....and I make it my home when there doing business......

The higher up the better.......I've even had a room there where you can see Mt Fuji........it's the place they stay in "Lost in Translation"........superbly comfortable but expensive.......

Oh yeha Paul I forgot to mention the trains stop running. No worries plenty of taxis in the area. Costs abit more but should be fine for you. Just carry a biz card of your hotel.

Only Hotel I have stayed in there was the Imperial (the one where Marilyn Monroe wore Chanel No.5 in bed on her honeymoon with some baseball player).
Great hotel and the first one I have stayed in where the bear was dearer than the tea - easy choice then. Not sure on its location but near the imperial palace - and just make sure there are no royal weddings going on - a year after I stayed there I got an email from them saying they wouldn't be taking any room bookings when the emporor got married, or was it his son?

Stay at the the Grand Hyatt in Roppongi Hills, adjacent to the Roppongi nightlife district. Nishi-Azabu is also right there, so you can check out the scene there as well. If you stay anywhere else, just be ready for steep cab fares. Sometimes up to $60 or $80 depending on where you stay.

If you want some advice on where to party in the 'pongi, PM me on the side. I can clue you in on where to go. Roppongi's certainly where most ex-pats go to party.

And a few words of Japanese will get you a long way with the ladies.
