Very very cool for some..
Battery life would be a big question mark for me.. Also despite is no doubt super cool UI and abilities I am still happier with something tough in my pocket with my keys..

No mobile is worth that to me, so I will look and envy those who get one.
I reckon Nokia and Sony Ericsson will be worried.

Yes I did, very cool, but I have a mp3 player on my Nokia with 4Gb hard disc
Not sure I want a laptop in my pocket, I'd be worried about dropping that thing
I liked the camera possibilities.

It would be nice if it flipped open like my Motorola Razor phone, to protect the keypad. I used to always dial people without knowing just by bumping on a speed dial button. Access to the Internet is a nice feature. I reckon I'll have to keep it my other pocket if I get one, the one without my keys.

$499 is kind of steep, but maybe worth it. I hear that they can't really sell the I-phone too cheap or it would cut into sales of their cash cow, the IPOD.

Or anywhere for that matter. I think they might have bitten off more than they can chew to be honest - they're placing themselves very firmly in the phones market but are going in a little undergunned. The camera at only 2MP is crap and well behind the times, Nokia are coming out with a 5 MP camera phone in a few months.
I don't what the market is like abroad but here you can get pretty much any phone you want "free" on contract. I think maybe Apple would be better off aiming to compete with blackberry devices which judging by the features they will run riot over. There's far more to the phones market than a cool user interface...

Already got 5MP phones out from LG on GSM and 7MP and 10MP in Korea and announced.. LG are selling a touchscreen only phone beating them to market.
The UI looks good. and thats about all.. Many of the UI features will not work unless on the bundled cingular 2 year contract (thats another bad point.. That price is for a contract deal)..
Not a fan of the closed system style also.. Its the opposite of the way nokia and others are going by opening sources and providing ways to expand the feature sets..
I also think they are going to have a tough time and that whats nice about it is mostly superficial and copyable UI features..

If it were released today, it would be interesting. By the time of wide release, it will be outdated. So given this gap of time, I think they may be holding back on some features. it is really easy to rev some components like the camera. There is so much hype now, they can under announce features. They do a rev as part of a product launch again in June and get more hype. Apple usually doesn't pre-announce products, so there is more going on. No need to think about it until it is on the market.
