Neil Young by a country mile, yet to find anyone in the same league. Not too many others will last 40+ years and still be going strong.

Yeah, I like Neil Young too. Especially his older songs. I love Powderfinger and Cortez the killer.

I heard a couple of different pub bands last weekend both doing Lynryd Skynrd's Sweet Home Alabama and, as everywhere, people start cheering when it comes on. Do they not know what it's about, ie Lets hear it for the Klu Klux Klan and all the rest that WAS wrong with the Southern states?

Dont have a clue what you thinking about When people like Sweet Home Alabama its mabee just because its one of the most playd and well known songs from that period, and have been used in many movies as well.Mostley people have a relation to that song and its a good one.
And its a myth thing since the band had a Plane crash and Van Zant and two other members was killed
And the band is originally from Florida!
The talk about Lynyrd Skynyrd and southern politics started afther Neil Young made "Alabama and Southern Man" and Lennart Skynnard did answer with making Sweet Home Alabama. And they sing about him in the text"Southern Man who needs him around"
And agree Southern rock music is great

Yes it is played a lot and people do cheer it a lot because it is so familiar but it is still an argument against Neil Young's song Southern Man when he tells the Blacks to stand up for themselves and fight back. Lynyrd Skynyrd are saying, "keep your nose out of our affairs, there is nothing wrong with keeping the Blacks etc under our thumb".

All time would be Police and Sting (pre Rain Forest mostly). Liked the Bring on the Night Tour. Jazzed up Police songs with a top quality band.
Best voice: Nine Simone. "Funkier than a Mosquitoes Tweeter". One of my all time favorite songs that never dies.
