I don't quite see how this article describing how the Indonesians practicing Sharia law affects the conflict going on in Southern Thaland?
Perhaps I'm missing something here?

From what is written, it appears that it is still moderate, and merely conforming more to the Muslim way of life than previously ie headscarves being worn and short skirts replaced with more traditional wear.

As for checking marital status, thats a given in Muslim countries from my experiences, and it appears to be far less harsh than other places I know of.

I suppose this entire Fear of Islam can be dismissed as xenophobia. But the history of that idealogy is always towards greater chaos.
