Gordon Ramsey

i have wrote before that i was a big fan of his but seems hes totally sold out

i loved his "Kitchen Nightmares" before
now he has put an American one on Fox and it is all Foxified and seems staged
also, he opened a new restaraunt London, smack in the middle of Manhattan
why any chef would want the touristy crowd is beyond me
i think this whole "sell out" diminshes him as a chef

I saw a documentary about him from some years ago, when he wasn't very famous outside the restaurant circuit, when he fails to get the third star in his own resturant in London. Nedless to say, he was quite pissed...

The show about him trying to rescue poorly run restaurants was also good. There is no denying that he is good at what he does, but as you say - fox doesn't really equal quality for me, either.

I guess cash is always king.

The show with the a$$hole Guido brother ruining the east coast restaurant was hilarious.

Guys trying to collect money, fist to cuffs, insulting the staff, right out of Goodfellows.

When will these guys realise that a quick buck is not the be all and end all, as you rightly say the show where he would rescue restaurants in trouble was really good to watch but when these people let the likes of fox loose to manipulate them they lose so much credibillity......

Yes, I don't think guys like Adria, Keller or Ducasse would want that kind of publicity...or at least I hope not. It's not like they aren't fully booked anyway.

Great cuisine is art, and once it's too mainstream, it looses it's edge.

We like it. The new show is heavily edited, but you can still tell what he really thinks.

He is opening a place at the new casino in Singapore.

Sell-out or not, his bio is impressive. Take a look on wikipedia.

Liked Gordon Ramsay a lot before, including " Kitchen Nighmares" ! But after he started with the US tv-shows it`s just getting to polished and staged !!

Give me Anthony Bourdain instead, his series " A cooks tour " and " No reservations" is brilliant !! The guy seems down to earth and he doesn`t try to hide his pleasures in overindulging in cigarettes and alcohol !!

Maybe they don't understand it????

Just saw this on a Singapore Air flight where it was also uncensored. Found it strange but more realistic.

This guy is a total pro at tearing people down but then building them back up and motivating them in under a minute. Also he can just sense bad food if he gets within 2 meters of it. Awesome skill set. Understand more why he is so successfully in the kitchen. (but of course I am also watching edited TV)

I've sort of got hooked on this now. I've gone back and started watching the UK version. Partly it is therapeutic watching him bring order to chaos. But it is also like business parables on the fundamentals of running a business. Really you could boil any business or business problem down to the stuff he covers. All ways good to keep the really basic stuff in mind.

I'd love to see one of those 20 stone, 6'4" wannabe chefs hit him square in the nose with a big, hard and preferably hot frying pan when he tells them to Fark off! Then a slo-mo of him hitting the kitchen floor out cold.

I'd pay per view for that.

perhaps one of your own Rochedalean master/celebrity chefs......Mark Broadbent from "Bluebird" in London......could do the job for us D

he's as broad as a pick axe and a total wildman in the kitchen......but a true gent with a heart of gold and humour to match....can't half cook good english grub too!!!

another fine example of Rochedale's special place on earth!
