Projects
When I quit moderating the forum I cited 'projects' as the reason. The projects at the time were a new business, forced upon me by my ex-partners (bunch of Southern shi**bags), and a property that I had taken on.
The property has been interesting, and is now finished, so I thought I might share a few pictures
This was my son's bedroom from when we moved in. He's coped with all of this pretty well and I admire him for it.

The house is transformed now. It's been a hard year but I'm pleased with the way the place has turned out.
I think the bathroom looks ok in the pics, and the first kitchen pic is almost exactly from the position where the originals were taken.

It surprises me even now. It was pretty bad when we moved in but it's so different now. Knocking the wall out and raising the floor to the same level through the kitchen/dining bit transformed it.

Is this the property you are putting on the market Steve, or am I slow again and it is another one?

No, this is it. I put it up for sale this week. Hopefully it will make me a few quid.

So the hard work this year was just a way to increase the value and make some profit? The question is, will you have to revamp the next place you move to?
I think I would have stayed and enjoyed the work put in.
Anyway, good luck with whatever you do. The "new" house look very nice, compared to the first pics.

Heh, I prefer sitting on my bum and investing in the stockmarket. Iron ore and petroleum stocks. Bit of a 'no brainer' at the moment

It's all part of the problem. It's really nice to live in a pleasant place which is warm and easy to be in. But, when we set out on this project I was not really confident about work; things were tough business wise and I had no idea how it was going to work out.
I think that we have got used to living fairly basically, so we move on and renovate another place. I hope that over the next few years we can get to a point where I can afford to have us live in one place while I renovate another.
I'm pleased with this one, but we have to do it again a few times before I'm really happy

This is North West England, on the Fylde coast. We are in a decent part of the world. Not massively desirable, but not a scary dustbin either.

Steve,
Congratulation. It is obvious that you did a fantastic job.
Did you have fun doing it?
Personally I love these types of project. In 6 to 12 month I plan on buying a fixer-upper. Install new bathrooms and Kitchen along with what ever else is needed. Get it done in about a year as a side job and sell it.
