I saw the news on tv, really big mess.

At least the shows we get are late, few seasons behind usually.

Do they like record the series this week and then show it the next?

the daily shows, like The John Stewart show and such are the most affected
but they are running out of scripts for the last half of sitcom shows and some stars are refusing to work also

Fire the lot of them, and hire a new bunch at half the cost, I say!! The scripts mostly suck anyhow, and none of the sitcoms are funny. It is just the same old crap rehashed. Would just as soon watch reruns of Starsky and Hutch, and Seinfeld. Hasn't been a good sitcom since Seinfeld went off the air, anyway, IMHO.

you are not way off base

I've read quite a few actors and producers are standing with the writers, like on The Office they only have 2 episodes in the bag before it becomes impossible to continue unitl things get resolved.

Gold in them thar hills.

Hmm... an opportunity may be presenting itself.

Consider: How about turn OFF the tv, walk outside, and get involved in a non-virtual world? Learn a new hobby, get in shape at the gym, volunteer at the local homeless shelter.

It is not so hard to wean from the boob (tube). I last owned a tv about 15 years ago. Have not missed it.

Just a thought.

Just read that Lost may either get further delayed or they may split the 16 episode season into 8 + 8. Annoying.

Either way, I've got a fresh terabyte drive and I'm building an archive of stuff that I heard was good but never bothered with. Plus a bunch of decent British shows. I should be safe in my bunker for at least a year.

Cool Sad Bar Stards

I cannot believe anyone is worring about some crud on TV.Who gives a toss if Jan Leno or Letterman actually have to think for themselves and actually make up their own conversations.

As the man said get outside and get a life.Do something more than be slob in front of the telly.

I like Jon Stewart, too. But if he is really a funny guy, and not just another talking head, then let him write his own stuff!! Seinfeld did!!

I heard series 7 of 24 has been cancelled or at least postponed until all this is over.

I hardly watch TV actually but the shows I do watch I don't like to miss.

Was reading about why the writers are taking this action - they really are being ripped off it's not just a case of them going for more money. Twenty years ago the studios "temporarily" cut their rate by 80% promising to put it back once VHS became mainstream (!) and they still haven't done so. Some of their other claims might be a bit whack (eg they want a slice of ad revenue on free clips) but hey you gotta leave yourself some room to get negotiated down.

Maybe this will affect the presidential campaigns too.

Yeah if you thought Rudy "when-I-was-mayor-of-New-York-blah-blah-9/11" Giuliani was bad enough imagine him without writers At least McCain has his trusty "spending money like a drunken sailor" gag to fall back on.

Actually it was Hillary that was caught having writers make questions for "potential voters" to ask her on the campaign trail.

Out of all the candidates she's the one that desperately needs them - I watched the latest dem debate and it was just an endless stream of BS coming out of her mouth. She really couldn't have got any further from answering the questions or not making herself look bad if she tried. I think regardless of politics and opinions of the guy I think most would agree Bill Clinton by comparison was a smooth bastard and has quite a charisma.

But they're mostly all at these kind of tricks and you know things are bad when even FEMA are faking news conferences! The funny thing is politicians/the government in USA have it so easy from the media - honestly they would absolutely shit themselves if they had to face the kind of scrutiny we have in the UK.

John Stewart and Colbert return

they both returned last night

it was sort of boring with Stewart dedicating his whiole show to the writer;s strike
what i thought was weird is it seemed to me that he was sort of bashing the writers but no one picked up on it but the New York Times
