U.K Sim-card?

Quick question: Can I buy a prepaid simcard here being a non-national/resident? Which one should I go for?

You can buy in any 7-Eleven, no problem.
I prefer 1-2-Call, I can call and receive from all the other networks with that card, even from International.
Not so with all the other cards!

Erik - assume you mean you want to buy a UK Sim card ... I've had an O2 SIM for years - even worked after 2 years not being there - think charges are pretty much the same. As far as I know you don't need to be a resident, any phone shop can sell you a SIM. UK BM's could help if anything has changed recently.

I bought a SIM card in a phone shop in London a year ago.
IIRC I had to show ID when I bought it, but no issues.

Nearly everywhere sells them now. Look at the price structure yourself as all the main retailers, as far as I know, are pretty much identical now. (Although you may be more interested in the overseas rate Eric!).

Most of my friends on pay-as-u-go tend to prefer either the Virgin sim or the Tesco's one (Think they are both piggyback the O2 network??). I know if you use it alot, the Virgin one gives money back quite frequently in free credit.

Thanks for your info fellas. Got a deal with T-mobile. Sim was free, you only pay for what you top up. No registration or ID required. They also got a smooth online top-up system.

I was in WH Smiths yesterday, and there are doing good offers on phones and sims on Orange. A bit late now, but I only remembered when I read your reply.

How long are you in the UK for?

I'm off to Phuket on tuesday, but will be back for a month in May and probably also July.
