computer problems
Hi,
I have windows XP on my computer.
When I have been looking at a web picture, and then right clicked it to try and save it, my computer is only letting me save it as a bitmap. A couple of days ago, i could save everything as JPEG's .
Obviously if everything stays as bitmaps, its a lot more space, plus i cant then post photos anywhere.
Can anyone help me on how to configure the computer settings so it will let me save as jpegs?
(when i get my save dialog box, the only format i can save as is bitmaps, there isnt an option for jpegs)
thnxs

Hi Mike,
Try this:
Go to Tools -> Internet Options in Internet Explorer
Click on Delete files under Temporary Internet Files.
This usually solve the problem you got, look like IE can behave strange when there are too many cache files.

Thanks Nicke ! That worked great.
I have just wasted 2 hours searching through settings and other shit to see if i could sort it, and within a couple of minutes you got it sorted for me. Thank you.
I guess i must have been looking at too much naughty stuff
How do you learn stuff like this Nicke? Is it just through spending so much time on them, or do you know of web sites which give help to common small problems like that one?
Take care

Google Search string "internet explorer save as only bitmap" => first hit.
Pick your keywords with care and all the answers are there.

Well, it is just experience and I had this problem myself few times in the past and somebody told me to try to clear the cache.
Maybe I spend too much time with computers

I hardly ever use Microsoft knowledgebase unless it's a very specific fix. Mostly I wind up, via Google, at Experts Exchange (coding problems) or Windows Annoyances.
Cheers,

There is also a useful option that empties the internet cache when closing the browser.
