Rugby

With around 40 minutes to go until kick off in Dublin, and the Welsh win in Paris yesterday. What is the betting that England turn over the Irish and hand the Six Nations to Wales?

As an English bloke it breaks my heart, but as a rugby fan it's about the best I can hope for just now. If we lose today it will be the worst tournament in living memory for England, and I've said before that the Scots will be looking forward to their crack at us like never before.

Thank God for the Italians? Surely not!

Yeah there's loads of Irish(Obviously) & English fans around the city centre, But the thing that I like the best about rugby even though football is my favourite by far and the reason why I cannot watch the rugby game live today(Liverpool-v-Chelsea, Come on the Reds) is the supporters, If that was the english football fans in the city centre there would be killings.

But it is the exact opposite with the rugby supporters, They always seem to be up for a laugh and the banter does be flying, Also they can sit in the same bars beside each other without any fighting or any other shite like that, Which is a great thing, Hope the football supporters can follow there lead in future.

How about being in the Margherita Bar at the top of Bangla with a bunch of Aussies sat listening to our rendition of the mighty 'sweet chariot' after old Sicknote dropped that goal

Well after this weekends matches I can't see past Wales for the six nations title now.
Yesterdays games were chalk and cheese.I fell asleep during Scotland v Italy it was that bad.Scotland won 18 -10 but who cares, they were both abysmal.
France v Wales has been the game of the tournement so far.The way France began looked like the France of old ,flair imagination and everything good.Poor Wales looked down and out after just 12mins and were lucky to be only 15 -6 down at half time. But what a turnaround by Wales. They outmuscled the French forwards ,competed and deserved a wonderful win in spite of fierce French attacks in the last 10mins.If I were Welsh, I would be very proud of what is becoming a very good team Final score for those in LOS who missed it France 18 Wales 24

Now todays game, Ireland v England had plenty of errors, especially the SA ref who disllowed a good try by England for supposed offside.Never in a month of Sundays but its was wiped out. Ireland had the better of the first half and England were making lots of silly mistakes and giving away penalties. The 2nd half was a reasonable display by England forwards but the final pass or touch went astray.Very frustrating for an England fan but to be honest the Irish deserved the win, especially with a beautifully worked try from Brian O'Driscoll. That man is a superb player.Overall though I fancy Wales will have the edge over Ireland ,going by this weekends displays, as they beat a far better side in France than a pretty poor England one. The English have a lot to do to get it right for 2007.Have the Welsh and Irish peaked too soon.I wonder, the Irish forwards are getting to the veteran stage now with one or two exceptions.Oh the Ireland score 19 -13.

Sorry no disrepect here dawsey but how could you say it was not offside? None of the camera's picked it up? And the ref blow the whistle very quickly so he must have seen something, But if you want to talk about bad ref decisions then what about englands first try which was more like american football?

Anyway Ireland still have not played there best and they will have to play a hell of a lot better to beat france but if they can do that, Then playing in wales will be like another home match as we have not lost there in 20years.

On to wales, They are playing the best rugby at the moment and I did say that they would be a very good bet to win the grand slam at the start, And I might add a lot of BMs laughed when I said it I wonder what kind of odds you would have got on that.

PS: It was a bitter sweet victory for me today, As liverpool got beaton in the final of the carling cup, I am absolutely gutted How many stone wall penaltys against chelsea have we been cheated off

Hi Ally
Re the offside,I dont know if you get the BBC coverage/pictures but it was replayed several times, and one view from behind when Hodgson kicked,no way was Cueto in front of him at the time the ball was kicked. Also all the panellists including Keith Wood agreed it was a good try! I agree the Corry try was dubious and the ref should have blown for a block on O'Gara. What about the England "touchdown" How could the ref see if the ball was or wasn't grounded. He didn't even go to the third referee.Anyway Ireland deserved it so I can't complain. I wasn't laughing when you tipped Wales. At the time Ireland were playing better and I fancied them, but not now.I'll have a little bet with you,Wales will beat Ireland in Cardiff. The beers are on the loser in LOS in April (It grieves me to tip Wales as well)
BTW Thank you lord for Chelsea winning today.I have been supporting them since 1972 and its been a long wait

Its all on points now.If points are level at the end of the five matches each then the points for and against are taken into account.Remaining games are
12/3 Ireland v France England v Italy
13/3 Scotland v Wales
19/3 Italy v France Wales v Ireland England v Scotland

Table at the moment is
Wales P3 W3 D0 LO Pts 6

France P3 W2 D0 L1 Pts 4
Scotland P3 W1 D0 L2 Pts 2
England P3 W0 D0 L3 Pts 0

I was in a bar in Pattaya and the Oz fans were very bad losers.
Well done to the Irish today and good to see the Welsh coming back into things.
Of course, we are just messing about until the next proper competition :-)

Yes thats the same channel I was watching it on, And I have just watched it again as I recorded it, And honestly you just cannot tell because of the angles they are showing, I agree the ref was abit dodgy on some of the calls especially the "Failed touchdown" which was quite clearly held up, So england should of had the put in, But you win some you lose some, At end of the day england were just not creative enough in there play, And they just did not have the keys to unlock the Irish defence which was extremely good I might add, Anyway its over now, Bring on the french

About taking you up on the bet about wales, I will decline on this occasion as I think it is too close to call, Also I always lose when I bet And always win when I dont
