Crappy Britain

Does anyone else find that their own, supposedly advanced, 'western' countries are becoming worse & worse with regard to regulations, greedy lawyers, political bloody correctness and general malaise, to the point that you just wanna feck off asap ? I'm talking about Britain here, but would be interested to see if the guys from Oz, USA etc feel the same.

Personally I feel that everything I liked about living in the UK is quickly being eroded. As a white male (that shouldn't figure but read on...) living here all my life, I get the impression that the government feel guilty about past misdeeds eg British empire etc, and seek to redress the imbalance by actively discriminating against my 'ethnic group' (hideous phrase !) in order to make new & established immigrants feel at ease. This happens at work, in law, in the street and so on- all under the banner of 'positive discrimination' (an oxymoron if I ever heard one).

No disrespect to black, Asian guys etc, but how can this barmy 'solution' ever create anything but division ? I sometimes feel like a foreigner in my own country, yet to say so would cause me to be castigated as a fricking nazi by the academic elite. Personally I don't really have a problem with, for example dual pricing in LOS, it's their country after all- what business is it of mine if I'm expected to pay more, after all as a farang I'm more likely to have greater disposable income. Try doing that in the UK though- I think it's common knowledge that Japan has generally higher wages than here, but I can just picture all the do-gooders and government busybodies kicking off and screaming 'Racism !' if the Japanese were charged more here for example.

Travelling to other countries & cultures as we all know broadens the mind (in more ways than one !) . But we're still expected to respect the culture, and rightly so. Doesn't happen here though, everyone's way too happy to play the discrimination card, whether it's 'racism' (eh ? we're all one race anyway !), 'sexism' or any other means to scam a few bob out of the country or individual via unscrupulous lawyers and a perverted judicial system.

Talking of discrimination, why is it that the UK has a number of well-known foreign, but resident terrorists & agitators here, and they're in the main left well alone for fear of allegations of 'racism'- yet try to bring a Thai girl here just for a holiday, and you've two chances- little or none.

I suspect these wankers in charge think that all Thai girls are on the game (surely THAT'S discrimination !!!) , well we couldn't have that in the UK could we, I mean, sex is dirty and disgusting. But, well if you're a potential bomber, we'll wave you through sir, no questions asked.

Makes me wanna puke. I'm gonna milk this country for all I can get for the next few years, then roll on a better life in LOS.

Were in the Uk do you live ?

Everyone used to go on about the North / South divide.

Not anymore , Its those who work and pay taxes ,NI etc and those IDLE FAT TWATS ,with their white trainers and adidas striped tracky bottoms(Now known as chavs)that sit on there arses and know every trick in the book to get money out of the system, and me and you are paying for it.

I have my own business and that must be the only reason I stay put. I take nothin out of the system and basically put F all back into it( I also know how to play the game).

Yes I would probably have more chance of bringing a terrorist to the UK than some innocent Thai lady.

It stinks, and it aint goona get any better.

Hey Glassman.

While in pattaya in may I saw a t-shirt which made me laugh, kinda wish I had brought one now.

If you know the 'Von-Dutch' range, I saw one which said 'Von-Chav' in the same style lettering

Yeah. Glassman, I live in Wigan, in what most of us here still refer to as Lancashire, despite the poxy govt p1ssing about with our centuries-old boundaries. It's a bit of a sh1thole these days, though saying that its proximity to St Helens makes it look half decent.

Regarding chav vermin, well I have to interact with this low-life daily in my job, driving trains. Had some horrible little oik spit at me recently, I stopped the train and got out, just as I was about to pummel the little cnut I visualised my dismissal notice , and had to rein it in. See this is the trouble with these gobsh1tes, they know the law better than we do. I reckon that's all they tell 'em at school nowadays. Think I'll go to the freight side for a bit to avoid the parasitical tossers, before LOS residence....

If anyone needs any more reason to quit this fcuked-up country, I give you this...

Enjoy.

I have mixed feelings about my homeland. The country elected Geo. Bush as President, so you know there is some major problems, but it is mostly the Christian religious fanatics who are responsilbe for that.

In the S.F. area, Bush backers are a very small minority, few of them would even have the nerve to say so of they voted for Bush, and everyone speaks quite openly against him without fear of someone contesting their opinion. Nobody speaks out in favor of Bush. And this area is so beautiful that some days it just blows my mind. If you take away the beaches in LOS, then the rest of the country comes nowhere near California in its natural beauty, and the beaches here are just as beautiful, but not as warm for swimming.

The problem with where I live is just that because it is so beautiful, there are people coming here from all over the country and all over the world bringing gobs of money with them and there's too many rich people. They have to sneak people in from Mexico to do all the work because everyone is so wealthy, and nobody else will do manual labor. All the construction crews are Mexican, all the workers in restaurants are Mexicans, the supermarkets and other stores are becoming more and more staffed by Mexicans, and gradually all the trades are going over to illegal labor except the most high paid ones. They are willing to work hard and live like beggars. For a white or black person who was born here, he can't pay the rent, taxes, and other costs of living here, and have a decent life, because it is all so pricey that they mostly move away to states where the prices aren't so high. A good friend of mine moved to Oregon this week.

So that's the problem here. The place has been overrun with rich people. The young people who were born here, but not to wealthy families, don't have a chance and are usually forced to move. Not so many normal people left, except those of us who bought in years ago, but one by one they sell out to the filthy rich, and move on. Some day I will probably do it myself, as I don't much care for rich folks. In the song "Working Class Hero," John Lennon said, "If you want to live like the folks on the hill, then you must learn to smile as you kill." The rich folks smile and act friendly, but you know that you can't trust them as far as you can see them.

Having said that, I am doing my best to get rich and leave here and move somewhere like LOS! Maybe. This is a hard place to leave, but it just isn't like it used to be. That's why my feeling are mixed. It would break my heart to leave here now, but I suspect one day it will be so bad that it won't bother me to leave!

yes, hurry up los for me

i agree with all that is said.
my country whilst still maintaining some standards of freedom is becoming a pain in the back side.

Yes thailand is a police state and corruption is ever present.
But it is the ease of doing some simple things in los i remember my home state of being the same.

the police pulled you up for speeding, maybe a little bit over the limit, they would say where you going to, you would tell them and they would say go straight home i see you more tonight your booked.

yes my home has changed, the welfare breed are out breeding the good people and we are becoming a nation of bludgers.

Give me a family of battling rice farmers over our lazy welfare fed bottom feeders.

Not all in los is fantastic but, when you meet the real thais not the bg's you appreciate their hard working morals and strength of character.

put most welfare system abusing aussies in their place, the aussies would be a mess in weeks.

i love my home, but i know we are catching up to the uk fast, in the case of very few supporting a lazy majority.

Love Los hurry up the pension.

what is this world coming to , My bags are packed ,so iam not as silly or unfortunate as the people left here
iam told that the people recorded leaving Britain who work and pay tax are 250,000

Britain isn't so bad:-
Hey why knock your own country? Admittedly everything may not be rosey, but then the grass always seems greener on the other side of the fence.
For starters, our police are, generally, not corrupt and do not carry firearms. OK the crime rates are on the increase, but, on the whole you are as safe in Britain as any other country, and safer than in some.
There are not many dangerous insects, snakes or animals in Britain, and there is little risk from earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters.
Whilst our health system is not very efficient, at least it is free; same for our education system.
Britain is very diverse, with a wide mix of cultures. British people, on the whole are very tolerant. We are free to express our own opinions, even if not everyone agrees with us.

Yes, I would like to live in Thailand, or somewhere else, but only if it gave me a better quality of life than I have at the moment. Whilst I would endeavour to embrace my newly adopted home, I am not willing to condemn this country, just yet.

I think its great that other people have dreams to move out there as well, and I respect their reasons for doing so. But I do know someone, who milked the system and went out there. Now he is back in Britain, and he is not having such an easy life trying to get started back home.

Coolhand,

some fair points there, but the police are sometimes corrupt, the poxy government are definitely corrupt, and our unelected leaders in Brussels' Fourth Reich are even worse. They just put a gloss on everything to seem squeaky clean.

The latest scare story is that they want to fit everyone's car with a black box, ostensibly to charge for road usage. The easy way would be to abolish road tax & put it all on fuel, but if there's even an inkling of truth in this proposal then it's being done for one reason only- to snoop. No doubt we'll have to pay 'em for this device too, like these ID cards.

I detest the fact that I have to deride my own country, but the affinity I have with the UK is fast being outweighed by the deplorable way its population is being skanked and lied to. Why should the rest of us support the idle, workshy turds who've never paid a penny in income tax ? I've a friend who works in the dole office, they know the ones who'll never work legitimately (more & more these days) and have been instructed to leave them alone. Yet they can all afford new mobile phones and bad taste (but expensive) sportsgear. Some even turn up to the dole office in a taxi, and have it wait for them to take them back to their cave.

I detest the vast majority of politicians, they're almost all scam merchants who think they know better than the people they're supposed to serve. True democracy would be to have a referendum on major issues, like they do in Switzerland. But these bastards wouldn't have that, as it would take away their power.

Rant over

Come on Baz, dear old Blighty is not so bad. You do make some fair points (Wigan is a shithole I agree, and as a bloke who lives in Blackpool I know a thing or two about shitholes)

The cops can twist things to fit on occasion but where else in the world would you be able to tell them what a bunch of twats they are to their faces? Or see the bastards in court when they REALLY fcuk up?

I love the fact that we have a liberal democracy, the mother of parliaments remember?, and that 17 year old girls can call our prime minister a liar on live television, try that with Thaksin! Could you imagine a Thai version of Spitting Image? Me neither.

Yes, there are some shit people polluting our country, and I agree that it will probably get worse before it gets better, but we demanded social security and a welfare state and here it is. Console yourself with the idea that all the shitbags will still be breeding like lab-rats in their council tenements while you are sunning it in Phuket.

There are still some things that are great about our country mate, let's not be too down on ourselves. How about these for a touch of the positives:

Fourth strongest economy in the world

Sixth most visited country in the world

Low interset rates and inflation under control (got a mortgage mate? Me too)

You are not French

Safest roads in the world (road deaths per 100thou miles)

Or Italian

Free education up to 16 years old

And we won't even mention the 'G' word

Free healthcare that is the envy of the world (proven by the fact that so many foreigners come here to scam it)

Free money if you need it (and even if you don't for some)

Free housing if you need it (on the 18th floor over the crack house, the lift is fcuked)

Wigan Athletic are in the Premier league, you can watch them on telly now!

Pies!

The M6 is mended (mostly)

The Lions are in New Zealand and looking good

Ginger spice has retired

There are a dozen flights a day to Bangkok

We nicked the World Cup off the Aussies (was'nt life great for a few months?)

Bob Geldof is making a fuss again.

We are not getting the poxy euro (how big a mistake was that Monsieur?)

We invented English and everyone speaks it, so we don't need to learn 'foreign'

George Dubya is somebody else's president

Boyzone have split

Come on mate, cheer up, it's fcuking great here, that's why all them foreigners are busting a gut to get here.

You asked for it

Don’t start me on this shite!
Oz is going very similar. I do love my country but hate what it is turning into.
If I did not care so much for it might not bother me as much.
I am not racist but certain middle eastern countries with Muslim religions cause so much trouble here. They wear the same sports gear also as your elite. Now the media are not allowed to report the race or colour of people who commit crimes in case some one takes offence. The political correctness is out of control to the point of stupidity and work place safety practices are getting there very quickly also.

If these people come here and want a better life that is fine but do not try and turn it into another version of where they come from. I would have thought that they would have been happy to get away from violence etc but they keep it going here. See what happens when you have a soccer, footee for you Poms, match between Croatians and Serbs. I know there countries have histories but if they still want to fight each other in the street go back to where they come from.
In some schools now they do not sing Christmas carols as not everyone is a Christian. Stiff shite, if they don’t want there kids to be like ours go to their own religious schools that they have here. Again some non Ozy born minority controlling the majority.
These are the traditions that make us what we are, but some one who was not born here wants to change it because it was not like that where they grew up, again if you don’t like it LEAVE NOW, farg off.
Oh yes and if you speak your mind on this, and don’t agree with the do gooders, you are a racist but they can have there free speech to have things changed that have been fine here for centuries.

We had a lot of Vietnamese come here in the late 70s and 80’s. They did not carry on like that, they did have some troubles but most work hard are happy to have the chance for their children to grow up in a peaceful first world country. Pity all of our immigrants are not similar minded.
The unemployables, I’d like to take them to Asia, no work no money no food how long do you reckon they’d last.
I am not intending to offend any Americans here, but we have things happening in this country now that we only ever saw on the TV that happened in America, drive by shootings etc. When I grew up it was cowardly to use a weapon in a fight. There seem to be many young people being stabbed in pubs or at parties when trouble starts. Way to many guns floating around in the hands of the wrong people IMHO.

I do plan on going to Thai, or another Asian country, to live and yes I know not everything is rosy there but there isn’t 2,000 fargin rules to follow just to walk across the road. I have told you a million times not to exaggerate. But i think you know what I mean.
You need to be earning a fortune here just to cover the cost of living and you need to be a drug dealer to afford to buy a house in most cities here.

I think it is the way of the western world. To many do gooders with their political and feminist correctness bull shite.
Gimme a beer it is just to depressing to think about, but there is a light at the end of the runway, the one to take me to LOS.

Hey Diz,

They don't need tax on cars any more. The cops and insurance companies share a database now so they have your insurance details when they stop you. Cars in London get towed and crushed routinely, hope they roll that out across the country.

New licensing laws arrive here September (I think) which will mean most pubs in town can stay open as late as they want to (they have to apply for it, in practice it will mean that the whole town will get 3am or 4am and stick together) This should make our towns and cities even more inviting than they are now

Oh, and one more thing that Baz picked up on; dual pricing.

We have that here too but normally in the form of a 'student discount' and I detest this sort of thing with a passion, both here and abroad.

I will never patronize a pub, shop, barbers (not that I trouble the barber much these days) or any other business in my own country where I am expected to subsidise the soap/tax dodgers; I already subsidised them.

Which I think is a wonderful idea! Norwich Union were on about this a while back for pay as you go insurance, and I am all in favour of it. I do a very low mileage, and on fairly safe roads, why should my premiums be upped because of poor drivers. And if it is used to track people speeding, then so what, they are breaking the law, and they deserve to be penalised.
Tacographs have been fitted on trucks for a while now, and despite initial reservations they are accepted as the norm.

Getting worse

Baz's original post was about Britain going down the drain. Yes there are many good things about the UK and I am thankful for having been born in a 1st world country. However, those in power appear to have lost all common sense with new laws and the immigration situation.

Criminals seem to have more rights than honest hardworking people. Scroungers stay on the dole throughout their lives and still want for nothing.
People who have never contributed anything to our society arrive from another country and get absolutely anything they want - took me 2 years to get registered with a dentist.

I lived in London for 14 years and was glad to leave there. I go back about once a year and every time the place seems to have got worse.

I don't want to give up living in the UK altogether, but spending as much time as possible abroad is very appealing. The trick is to reduce your tax as much as possible - that way you don't feel so bad.

I think they now have this scheme in place for young drivers, if they don't drive at night and that sort of thing.

I drive around 40k miles a year and feel like I do my bit in terms of paying; fuel duty around 75p in the pound, trashed car every 3 years, as much in insurance as a London cab, there is no cheap way of driving in our country.

I agree as well, as it goes, those that use the roads most should pay. It has to be said though, we are already a massive net contributor to the chancellor so I think that they will be very careful about this. They cant afford to be without the tax dollars that come from road use.

Cigs at BKK airport substantially reduced from 480 baht if bought in bulk.

Though obviously I'm a law-abiding British subject, and I would never try to get out of paying money to the Chancellor.

The price of cigarettes in the US is about the same as in LOS, if you buy at the discount cigarette store, and only a little bit more at the regular store.

I don't know why anyone would smoke them if they cost 30 pounds per carton which is about $54.00. Seems crazy!
