Need help with London advice

Hello, Im going to be making the long journey home. (have been in Iraq for last year) and it looks like I may be able to make a layover in London via Heathrow. Can anyone recommend what part of city to stay for maximum fun, ( 10% party-90% sight seeing). Hyde Park area? Also any budget hotel advice would be appreciated too....Thanks ! ...P.s... same for Amsterdam..

good morning
I would give Hyde park a miss if you want budget hotels
there more like £100 and that's for a real s..t hole

maybe try London bridge or tower bridge way I no there are a few travel inns or travel lodge in that area
should cost you maybe £45 a night but cheaper for long stay
or even blackfriers se1
theres a holiday inn at the foot of the bridge around £35 40 a night at cheap times
and your only 5 minuets from anywhere as the underground/ over ground is on your door step
you would be just 5 minuets from the city also
clubs pubs sightseeing
have a look at timeout its a London magazine maybe they have a website
this will help you allot , have a nice time good luck

If you don't mind bright orange, and you can book early enough, Stelios has opened a EasyHotel in South Kensington from £20 per night

From what i gather though.......... Easyhotel is VERY tight on who they let in. So if you do pull in a pub/club the chances of them being allowed into your room are slim, if any.

I gather that all people staying, have to be booked in on the 'net' a couple days in advance! This is to stop the place being used for 'tricks' by the local prostitutes!

Ignore this, of course, if you wern't going to stay here anyway!

I always pick my hotel for the nightlife as it is easy to see the tourist sites by underground during the day but this stops around midnight.
I stop at the Regent Palace hotel which gives a double room with a basic bathroom for about £59 per night, booked over the internet, though the price does seem to vary somewhat. It is next door to Piccadilly Circus underground and very close to Leicester Square, Soho, Covent Garden etc for the nightlife.

I lived in london for 14 years and the best nightlife at reasonable prices is in the shoreditch/bethnal green area you could stay at the travel lodge in middlesex street which is the area near liverpool steeet station where the petticoat lane market is held on a sunday its an easy walk up to shoreditch or you could take the infamous no 26 bus up there you will find numerous strip club and lap dancing bars where i can assure you by personal experience you will not get ripped off. bars there include Browns, the old axe,the sports bar, white horse, and the best of the lot the Metropolis another good area is Greenwich and Lewisham lots of good cheap accomadation and good pubs and bars
