Ang Thong And Ayuthaya
JUST A SHORT bus trip north of Bangkok are Ayuthaya and the neighbouring provence of Ang Thong Authaya has always been a popular destination on the tourist track with its historical sites and temples but Ang Thong is like entering another world when you get off the bus in the provincial capital Ang Thong city (population 14,000) it is like stepping back in time the town itself is quite busy and boistrous with a lively market but in all of my visits there (4 times ) i never came accross another farang so you become the focus of all the childrens stares, there are a few temples worth visiting and also its quite close to lopburii which is the town famous for having the wild monkeys all over the place so if you want to experience somewhere in thailand completely different from patong/pattaya then give Ang Thong a visit.
