khao Yai
i went to khao yai national park on my last trip........
from the 'town' to centre of national park is about 20k,we drove up and down the hills to get there only to find no accomadation available.
and to be honest for the price and quality it was not worth it either.
so on we went back down to the town(a long road leading up to the gates of national park).so we booked the night trek and transport to get to and from for later.
as we left the park we turned into a few hotels, man this place was like a ghost town,we promptly left the 'resort'....no one in sight, looked really run down...on we went, stumbled apon a big resort called Cowboy city, surely there is some life in here somewhere.
we proceeded to the front desk, which was in one part of the 'complex'.
then we were greeted by a thai women all dressed up like she just walked off the set to Dallas, cotton check shirt, hat ,jeans boots n all.
told us what was available..there was rooms in the 'one part' of the resort or bungalows,we checked out the bungalows, they were half decent, around 600-700 baht.checked in.
we went for a wonder, boy this resort was big.it was like a proper ranch,2 big buildings for accomadation, disco(so i heard ,1st floor),bungalows, seperate dinning area, bar, locked up band setup ,swimming pool......then round the back, stables, horses ,another salon, and what lookes like staff accomadation.
then out the front was shop houses and stalls, all not in use.
this place got me thinking, very shady......and there was only one other women staying there, maybe everyone is out trekking ,will be back later.....
i just wonder if this place ever kicked off, maybe back in the day it was busy/rocking,certainly could cater for it,intrested to hear other views...anyone been???
i was defintely freaked out by this place.......there was an old couple that came out while we was eating......BTW food was arroi arroi(as the waitress put it),and it was, fish laab, tom yum kung and kana moo kob, some of the best ive tasted.
anyway possibly the couple were the owners, when they came out they started to play old american country and western, just made me think more about the hotel, maybe they were influenced by the cowboy scene, america, possibly lived there hoildayed there, maybe they were part american...... i dunno.
i was just spooked out by the place, and getting served my midgets didnt help(nowt against them)just all added to it.
well, i done the night trek, saw some deer types, the missus reckons she seen elephant, hmmmmm, and then basically got the feck out of there, filling my girls head wasnt a good idea either,i was playing with it,she was getting a wee bit scared(also)55555.
but defintely an experience,(one i dont wanna do again,555555)all adds to the fun.
