Did tell you in a PM Dennis people get Udon and Ubon confused and also pointed it out in my trip report to Ubon Ratchathani here>>>
http://www.phuket-info.com/forums/is...rder-trip.html
The hotel I stayed at is probably fine for you, the Regent Palace...700baht a night but if you want something a bit more upmarket there's the Pathumrat a bit further along for 1200/night. Hotels are only 5 minutes in taxi from the airport.
Hotel details here>>>

Where I hired the bike from does cars too. If you're in the Regent, come out onto the main highway turn right and then go right down the 2nd intersection then the place is about 100 metres down on the left. 3 minutes walk from the Regent.

I know you did, and I read the report, which I found illuminating. Thats why I feel so stupid now!! Bill pointed it out and I was hoping you missed the thread!!!! 55555555
This is excellent additional info though, think Ill do a photographic and video log of the visit.
Probably call it 'Farang Confused Travel'!!

I stayed at the Thasong City hotel last weekend. 1100 baht/night. Good breakfast & evening meal, not rip off prices either. Less than 5 mins to airport & thay have free transfer to get you there as well and only 5 mins tuk tuk to shops etc
Only downside was it's on te flight path for the military jets...not fun @ 9am when you're waking the missus up!!

Enjoy the time there
