How do I get from Udon Thani to Roi Et

I was hoping someone could help me out.
I'm travelling overland to Thailand from Laos in late December. I plan on staying in Udon Thani for a night and then I need to get to Roi Et. I figured there may be a bus route or I could arrange some some sort of taxi. I can't find much information on the net, can anyone help me out?

regular bus services to LA (roi et) from udon, bus station is fairly close to farang alley and in between charoensri grand and the charoen hotel.
hire a samlor from either hotel or any hotel, not expensive.

some of the staff at the bus station do speak limited english, but its fairly easy to work your way around the station.
