Another coupla' places would be Phi Mai, ancient Khmer Temple and Khao Yai National Park.

Yeah G know what you mean about the fights as last year up in Phu Wiang for Bang Fai festival we went to concert around 10 am and everyone was pissed...Lao Kow and Sato abundant.
There were three felangs there and after about an hour I could see one guy going round the different groups and a few whispers here and there followed by big stares at us.
Well discretion being the better part of valour (not fighting 200 of the cnuts) we retreated to friends house up the road, my wife's mate came up about 30 minutes later and all hell had broken loose with rival gangs, a few stabbings and that.....was only local security and no police presence at all

Could I extend the question to include Nong Khai.

What do members think of Nong Khai? I realise it's very light on nightlife. Do you think it a place to live for someone who likes a reasonably quiet life?

Do you see it destined to grow, in view of the fact it's a border (crossing) town?

wifes little brother just started his bit of time as a monk last week, impressed when told this by the wife about 3 weeks before it happened, i asked how long will the motor bike mechanic give up his mor-lams, archa beer and hanging around with his mates at the village bike shop for.

2 bloody weeks thats all and a few nights a week in the time leading up to his being carried into the temple to start his period of being "bhudda".

2 weeks and how much will this cost her father i thought, 60,000 for the piss-up and associated costs i was told.

i do love that leo beer in a nice cold glass with the ice in it, nowhere else would i dream of drinking beer with ice in it.
405 bt a case now i have been told, maybe it will be archa next time i am in thailand.

My wife just reported back to me that they now have increased Leo from 20 Baht to 40 per can, at her village - Everything more expensive now Darling!

Uh, bad times are upcoming, I loved my Leo's laying in the hammok, many of them:-)

555, bloody 40bt at the local shop, whats it coming to?
haircuts bloody 40 bt up from 30 bt, its a rip off, its laos now for me.

leo in the glass, good book or movie on the ubc, the wifes mother/wife just arriving home with 10bt bag of ice and some chicken blood/foot soup, kee kiam chirping away. bugger being a monk for 2 weeks i would rather spend that money on my highly social lifestyle when in thailand.
