Anyone taken the bus from BKK to Hua Hin?
I'll be flying into BKK the morning of 26 JAN and was thinking of getting a taxi to the sourthern bus terminal then catching a bus down to Hua Hin to meet a friend for 4 nights.
Anyone taken the bus? Or should I jsut get a taxi to take me to Hua Hin. I actually think a bus might be more comfortable and the time seems to be approx. the same.

Go for the bus, a lot cheaper than a taxi. I would guess 200 baht range.

If you take the bus to Hua Hin do not take it from the Southern Bus Station, you'll take hours.
Go to Anusawareechai Samaraphumi (Victory Monument) and get a mini bus. My wife went a few weeks ago with the kids and was there in 2 hours dead. She said that they had new bigger mini buses they cost 180THB and go from by the Department store close to the BTS. I'm buggered if I can remember the name of that store, but it's very close to the station. Might be Centre One.
She used to always go by taxi 2500B, but now won't go any other way.

I read about the bus from Victory Monument but wasn't sure of their timings.
I have since found this on the net, according to this vans leave every 15 minutes between 6am and 7pm so I won't have to worry about hanging around BKK waiting for a bus to leave to Hua Hin, as I am arriving in BKK at 6:30am:
Bangkok to Hua Hin
A trip takes up to 2 hours and a half. A van carries 11 seats. Passengers get on the vehicle in front of Ratchawitee Hospital near the Victory Monument, a downtown accessible by several bus lines and BTS skytrain.
The first van leaves the hub at 6AM, and the last van at 7PM. 180 baht per seat. There is a van leaving for Bangkok every 15 minutes. Passengers get off at the van station housed on the ruined ground of what used to be the Hua Hin Cinema, in the alley opposite to PTT gas station.
thanks for the help

Going from Hua Hin to BKK does the van drop you off near the new airport? I'm trying to figure what time should I leave HH in the morning. Also, do I need a reservation for the minivan?

Out of date, now they have the bigger buses, they no longer go from in front of the hospital, they've moved to the other side to the shopping centre.
