Done a visa run via Hat Yai

Really enjoyed myself there. A good western style pub scene with lots of live bands
Food not so good as other parts of thailand, I think a big chinese and muslim influence flavours this
A dam sight cheaper than Phuket, e.g. 50 baht for a heiniken

One last thing a must go is the Pink Lady night club, full of stunners working in there

For hotel I recommend Sakura Grand View or Sakura New as the locals call it. (The old Sakura building is opposite) 980 baht/night but for similar standard and facilities you have to pay 3 times more in Phuket. They have Thai massage for 240 baht/2 hours, nice and cheap decent restaurant, Karaoke Lounge, pool tables and close to everything.

Most hotels can provide girls if you ask the bell captain or at some hotels karaoke lounge if you ask. Also some places to go to pick a girl.

They also have Bull fightings sometimes in Hat Yai, ask a tour info desk about it.

I would have liked to go and check out Hatyai on this tour but with all the sh@t going on down there I am having second thoughts, anyone been recently if so what is the attitude of the locals to farangs, any different to the rest of LOS?

Gday guys.

I can recommend at great pub in hat yai, its called "west side saloon", its shown on nickes map (above).
Great food and icy cold beer, but the best thing is the music, rock/blues great covers of falang rock favorites, plus thai music.
The night I went during the last set a beautiful thai bird about 24yo joined the band, and sang the blues like Ella Fitzgerald/Billie Holiday it was just so good.
One of the best night Ive had in LOS.

MMMM I still dream about that girl.

I've never gotten use to this practice...its ticked me off more than once as some of these fellows are not very good at being told to let you be, one night I was by myself and the bathroom gang wanted to give me the exam...guess they didn't get to see many white willys..it is the only time I felt uncomfortable in thailand....Just let me take the piss and I'd be much happier to drop ya a 10bt coin....its happened to me up in khon kaen as well.

I almost shit in my pants that time when i in the toilet peeing when someone put a hot towel on my neck, i thought i was being attacked from behind or something ... Still make mi and the guys that went on the same trip smile whenever we talk abt it.

When I do my in/outs via Hat Yai I stay in Songkhla.There are cheap hotels and a little night life.It is not the booming oilers town that it used to be but you can still have fun.The main entertainment area is a strip of bars called "the Darkside" and they generally stay open to two in the morning.The Asia Pavilion Hotel is a central place to stay and also has its own massage parlour on the premises.The Parlang Bar is the Hash House Harriers meeting point and it does great food
