am going to kk in june july time frame. anyone have any info on nitelife and such in the area? also, any guest friendly hotels.

I was there in August this year , was a chilled out place much different from mainland malaysia im not so sure this is a nightlife scene but i dont know about that one, guest freindly , im sure they mostly are as its not like thailand in this respect im sure

surely you jest........no P4P scene at all there........it's in the jungle buddy!!!!

Malaysia P4P hardly exsists outside of KL...........

I beg to differ...there is too much...so much so the govt has to curtailed it to a certain extent.

BTW KK has a good P4P scene but mostly Indonesians and Filipinos...just ask taxi drivers..

There is P4P at KK.

A lot and some really cheap ones also.

I dont know where you are staying, but i always stay at the Shangrila when i am there, nightlife is outside the hotel.

Bars also close quite late.

well Yeap I must be blind............55555.......saw nothing when I visited KK a few years back.....was with farang female companion and in 5 star accom?....but no mention of it even from guide or taxi driver?....might have to give KK another try now....

Most of the restaurants and pubs are at The Waterfront.

thks for all the info gents. i was looking at the shangrila as a place to stay. looks the best so far. glad to hear about the P4P situation. thought i would have to take some entertainment with me from KL.
as for mt. kinabalu, i will have to get a few extra days on the eliptical before i try that. too much singha and such. i bend toward going below the waves instead of conquering the snowy peaks. much less stress.

make sure you do the climb KWgreg....it is hard but well worth it!!!!

There are 2 Shangrila Resorts in KK.

One is Tanjung Aru, one is Rasa Ria.

Mount Kinabalu is worth the climb, it's a lot easier than before with steps and staircase for you to walk. Just need a guide.
