Crowne Plaza v. Concorde (G/Friendly)

I have to attend a Petroleum Economics Seminar in KL during May 2007. Its being held at Crowne Plaza. However it appears that the Concorde is recommended by the BM's for 'fun factor' , and is only a short distance away from each other looking at the maps....

i intend to mix business with pleasure and so i'm thinking to stay at Concorde as a 'Girl Friendly' base and attending the CP for the seminar during the 5 days course. Also that would keep my activities completely away from the organized course. I also intend to extend the visit to KL for a few days b4 and after the seminar to have a break , do some shopping etc

Does my plan sound ok, is the CP hotel a short distance from the Concorde ? Or would staying at the CP hotel be ok for a fun time regardless ???

Hi H3X,
from concorde to CP is about 10 min. walk uphill or you can use the monorail.
it stopps right in front of the 2 hotels.
concord is very close to the nightlife and has hard rock cafe in-house.
CP about 10 min walk from nightlife, not sure whether CP g/f
quite good spa beween hotels is "spa de palace". about 200 rm for ST
have fun

Most hotels in KL are girl friendly, even 5 star hotels like Shangrila.

I dont think they will ask you who you're bringing back.

There is a SPA inside Concorde hotel, went once, not bad.

Further down the road is Beach Club, lots of girls for you to bring back. Mostly Filipinos.

Spa D Palace is one great SPA. It's at the Life Center, you wont miss it when you're going to Crowne Plaza.

Concorde to Crowne Plaza is quite a walk.

If you stay in Raffles, you have your own key, don't have to pass the desk at all!
Only the guards outside, but if you get to know them in a friendly way they are very nice and friendly (even if they might look a bit scary with their big swords and uniforms!).
So no problems with bringing in guests there.
So also Raffles the Tower, across the street (but no guards here!).
And close there is Chime's, nice place with disco's, bars and places to eat.
Zouk and O'range, ok for the experience, but the places in Zouk are dirty and smelly.

Send a message via ICQ to Nicke
Are you sure Concorde have a Spa? I have never seen one, but they used to provide Thai massage (was closed on my last visit) and have pool and fitness center and beauty saloon.

Thanks for the input guys.... much appreciated. Just to clarify the 'GF' situation... I mean no lame ass 'joiner fee' with snigger snigger remarks from the reception staff / guards

? and what about 'bar fines'... or are they just FL's ?

Also Nicke mentioned the 'good' computer shopping (in 2005 ) .... if any of you in KL are computer literate i'm looking for a 2GB ram laptop with core 2 duo 2.33ghz T7600 with a minimum VGA Nvidia card 7600 go with 256mb ram (preferably a 7900 Go) ....

Is the 'IT' sh!t up 2 date ? and are they really competative priced , otherwise i'll do a stop over in Dubai.

Thanks

H3X

For everything IT, go to Low Yat Plaza, yes they are up to date. Lots of notebooks brands for you to choose from. Most shops open from 11am onwards.

There are no bar fines, they are FLs. Sorry, dont know the asking price.

Yes they are all FLs. Asking price is quite high, but you can barter down as much as you want. I even went with a couple of girls for free to their place. Bought a bottle of Whiskey which was enough in their eyes 555555

Crowne Plaza

If you're not paying then I'd pick the Crowne Plaza. It's completely guest friendly and IMHO the rooms are much nicer. Also it has the main entrance where the doormen open the doors for you. But if you want discreet entry there is a lower ground entrance where you can walk in straight off Jalan Raja Chulan and also there is the back entrance where you take an elevator from the lobby down to street level and walk out on to the back of P Ramlee
