Talking Going To Malaysia 20 April

I am counting down the days till I go to Malaysia. I am currently in Kubul, Afghanistan and will be taking my mid-tour R&R in Malaysia.

For the past five months I have been talking with this amazing woman who lives in KL. We will be meeting and spending two weeks together. We both really like each other. She is funny, smart and amazingly beautiful. Yeah I am in love.

We are going to spend a few days in KL and then travel to Langkawi for a few days before heading to Borneo, where the rest of her family is from.

Can any of the board members give me any suggestions on places to go while we are at each of these destinations. For the most part I am relying on her to make the decisions about where to go, but I hate going into something comepletely blind. Any advice would be appreceiated. Any must resturants, shows or places that are must see?

Thanks in advance.

Scott

Welcome to the board NavyP220.

Nice Intro...

I was in KL last year. I was only there for 3 few days after my trip to Thailand. I haven't a lot of info for you because I was recovering from over 3 weeks of drinking and partying in BKK and Phuket! Which sort of continued when I got to KL...

I did get a look around KL, and I thought it a cool city with lots to do and see... Very different to Thailand that’s for sure... There’s a great mix of cultures there, Native Malay, Chinese & Indian. Its the only Chinatown that I’ve seen that should be called "Indiatown". As you would be aware it’s a Muslim country but a VERY moderate one and it’s very much geared towards western tourists...

I found the people there to be very friendly and helpful and it's definitely a country I would go back to at some stage in the future...

I hope all goes well for you and the wee woman, and sorry I haven't more specific information for you...

Steady as she goes and keep your head down over there (Afghanistan).

Pádraig.

A few pics of KL...

The area of Bitang (Thats one of the ways its spelt!) is where most of the nightlife is... Its easy to find as is everything in KL... It's not a massive city by any means and it has a great public transport system that works.

There's also lots of good top quality resturants and bars all over the place...

Thank you for the info. I hope to make it to Thailand in a couple of years. Before I get married again. I will take loads of photos in Malaysia, I will share once I get back to the Stan.

If you go to Thailand before you get married, you might reconsider marraige altogether!
