Trip to Malay?

I just got back from Thailand (BKK and Phuket) and had a great time. Food, rooms and entertainment was cheap for an American. I want to visit Malaysia but wondering how expensive is it compared to Thailand. Moreover, what are the attitudes towards tattoos and piercing. I don't want to be wearing long sleeve shirt my whole trip.
I heard you can have a great time in KL but are there alot of rules and regulations? Thailand is pretty liberal when it comes to tourist just being tourist. Any info would help. Will be there for a week in Feb 08, so need info about the night life and things to do.

Mal.

I guess it's ok, have seen many tourist walk into Banks with short sleeve and tattoos all over. Just dont misbehave.

Chinese New Year is on the 1st week of Feb, i think Feb 7th. So KL is gonna be a lil bit quiet during that week.
