KL - My small intro
I dont have that much experience of KL, but I give you my small intro to KL anyway.
I like to stay at Concorde hotel which is priced at 185-205 rm/night. It is a 4 star hotel close to action and walking distance to Bin Tang. (Malaysian, how to spell?)
They have a live Filipina bands at the hotel and they are real cuties and they are very good.
Next door to Concorde is Rock Hard Cafe and few minutes away you have Zouk (Very nice techno/laser club), Beach Club (Rock/Live pub with lot of FLs), Thai Club (Opposite Beach Club) and Warp Club (Techno disco with lot of young cuties). Beach Club is mostly foreigners and tourists while the others caters mainly to the locals, but it is great fun anyway.
There are lot of other clubs/places around this area but I never checked them out. Planet Hollywood and other places is located in the main downtown and not here.
Be aware of all the LBs who try to grab you at night while walking to/from your hotel.

LBs
Nice mention on LBs, I've had foreign men friends who had be surprised by innovative LBs who jumped out of the bushes to greet them in the middle of the night.
Cant contribute much on where you'd find girls, basically Beach Club and Hard Rock Cafe are popular hangouts for FLs
I love KL for sentimental reasons (4 wonderful years studying there), though I can understand why many BMs would find KL pale in comparison to Thailand or Vietnam.
Cheers
Lene

I also think KL is very good for shopping, especially for computer related stuff and digital cameras, which is my own interest. Very huge selection of computer software and games to very competive prices, in Phuket you have to pay 2-3 times more and the selection is lot smaller.
Also within walking distance from Concorde hotel is Twin Towers and Petronas Tower. I havent seen China Town yet but will try to see it next time.
Lene, I write about the nightlife in KL but I am not looking for girls but like to know the scene amd do some research. I like to enjoy good music or dancing and maybe chat with somebody. I am also very interested to see how clubs are designed and get ideas/inspiration.

Phuket has the best of both worlds, Rock Hard and Hard Rock, one is a go-go and the other is a great little bar with excellent music in Soi Sea Dragon.
