I stayed at the Shangri-la a few months ago and it was absolutely amazing. The cheapest room are a little over a 100$US per night which is not bad considering what you get. I called them directly and booked a horizon club room and got upgraded to a suite that was regularly 700$ per night.
Great location, right across from the entertainment area. Nice pool, spa and gym and excellent restaurants.
You can also check the KL section on this site for some other recommendations. I would only stay at the Shang if I had to choose again.
A good place to have a nice relaxing and romantic getaway, if that is what you are looking for.

Cheers,

Ashley

I went to Sheraton a few years ago, really good place... but a good advice, don't book on Internet, just call them, or any other hotel, it will be cheaper if you deal a little bit

Lookig for a hotel too. Nice but is there nothing less expensive, not too far from a place where I can pick up a girl to take with me to Langkawi?

Cool KL hotel

When I do my Visa trips to KL I stay in the Concorde Hotel.Last trip the price was 2100 Baht per day.The Hard Rock next door does good food and you can run up a bar tab on your credit card - dangerous stuff!! The lobby bar stayed open to four in the morning and has several Phillipino bands playing. The place is only a few blocks walk from the Petronas Towers shopping mall. You can make your reservations direct on line with their web site and geta cheaper rate.

Tin Tin, the location is good, its in what they call 'the golden Triangle' which is the modern city.Nearby is 1 hellava big department store called Times Square and the indoor rollercoaster is something to behold. Its about 2 km to The Beach club with all its lovely F/L asian ladies and The Thai Bar across the road. Thanks for the tip! I stayed last trip at The Furama Hotel in Chinatown at 90 ringitt. It was clean enough but smelt of insecticide.Took a double (about same price as single) and they were tolerant of my visitor from the Beach Club ( about a 8 ringitt taxi ride away). They had to be I guess as on the last day I realized the 5th floor was a large brothel!!!! I wondered where all those towels were being delivered...5555.Chinatown turns into 1 big outdoor cafe after7pm which is interesting.PS I hope your health is improving...

There are limo cabs outside KL Sentral, you buy the ticket from a booth. I am not sure how much, but i think it's better than taking a metered cab, those bastards will probably turn off the meter anyway.

Distance is not far, you should be at Concorde depending on traffic in bout less than 30 minutes.

If you buy inside at Sentral is may be 2-300 baht for the ticket, I think its like 5-10 minutes ride. You can also use the monorail and take maybe 20 minutes. I dont rememebr exactly. The monorail station is Bukit Nanas, just oustside Concorde/Hard Rock cafe.

These are the hotels within walking distance of each other or at least 10 mins by cab.

Shangri-la
Concorde
Istana
Crowne Plaza (prev Hilton)
JW Marriott
Westin
Ritz-Carlton (pretty much boutique with a butler service & bfast in bed)
all within a price range of 1700 - 3000 baht & all save for Concorde are 5 Stars.

Depending on workload, I can pick you up, thereafter, you'll be on your own or I can arrange for a cab (honest one, really) to take you around.

The price of the 5 star hotels you mentioned including Shangrila may vary depending on season. Not ez to get Shangrila at 3000 baht budget. I tried reservation for Shangrila on weekdays and got 4000 baht a night min.

Ritz Carlton is even more expensive.

There is also the Renaissance opposite the Hard Rock Cafe, further down is the Sri Maya, a boutique hotel, very nice and comfy.

Not sure bout Mandarin Oriental rates, should be freaking expensive.

Impiana KLCC is a new hotel near KLCC, walking distance to nightlife also. Oo and the brand new Novotel KLCC.

Grand Parkroyal is also quite affordable, newly renovated and some 3 star hotels nearby that area (Lot 10). Forgot the names.

Lots of options, check their online rates and get the best deals.

Cheers.

I checked into Concorde a few hours ago. RM190 for Superior room. Only RM1.60 to get there on the Putra LRT from Sentral and 10mins...6 stops.

VERY nice....has to be in comparison with the RM80 room I stayed in the other night near Sentral.

But RM20 for 30mins internet is a bit steep so as I need to be on for a few hours I've spent RM1.60 on the LRT to come back down near Sentral where it's RM2.50 for an hour!

Probably drop into the Hard Rock for a couple on the way back later. Don't think I'll bother entertaining my "little friend" as I'm back in Patong tomorrow

For anyone else heading this way wanting to know where the action is in Kl, or Penang or anywhere else in Malaysia for that matter, there is a very good forum covering it, similar to this one, here The Malaysian Commercial Sex Scene - Singapore-Asian Commercial Sex Discussions

Sorry, I was going on based on my global corporate rate.

Just walking distance from Concorde is The Weld shopping ctr. Starbucks gives free wi-fi as do the ones in KLCC, Bukit Bintang and other outlets as well. Sniff them out.

KL will be quiet next week with double festivals of Diwali & Hari Raya (end of fasting month). Most people will have gone back to their hometowns. PM me if you need help. Wiil try to, if I can.

PS, I think International Sex Guide is a tad better in some aspects.

I lived in KL for far too many years, thanks anyway. No plans to revisit, was just ribbing you about your corp rate.

No worries. ALways book for people. Thing is, not all are good rates. Depends on our staying records there, I guess.

Holiday Inn does good internet rates if you prepay. At times, can be as much as 1000B less than call in rates.

I've always had a good time in Phuket. Been there 4 times since last Aug. Only the prices in the markets seem to have increased a little.

Have a good week ahead.
