best thing in my opinion would be to book your flight lhr to kl with mas, then buy a return to hkt with air asia, well cheap.
I personally like staying in the de palma hotel on jalan ampang, 15 mins from town, muslim hotel, but great little bars surrounding it, all very accomodating to the traveller with looooads of sarawak chicks in them, the best thing with the hotel is its quiet poolside all day, so you and your bg can have fun, and just chill.
the bars are 1 min away. you drink there with the locals untill 10 ish then head off to the hard rock or the beach club, packed with muff.......also many other bars around.
Best get your bird yopurself, not from the taxi guys.
afternoon nookie, its in just about every spa in the hotels, inc de palma, nice chicks all flavours,, relax in the steam room , sauna, whirlpool, take a movie, eat some grub , then get a rub and tug all for 400 ringitt ( was last yr )
mate kl rocks, be cool , ask the locals in the hard rock what and where it kicks off, they are easy to spot..
Its like anything,,, the more you go the more you know..
deare than here tho

I had booked a trip to malaysia a few years ago, more expensive than Thailand but with very nice hotels in KL and Langkawi. Very nice trip, very nice country and great people, but my favourite country will stay Thailand because people and food. A lot of chinese food in Langkawi, they say they have Thai food, but they just add peppers . Langkawi is more savage as there are less tourists (many from Korea, Singapore, a few from Europe), you can see monkeys and beautiful bidrds on the beach, in the trees and on electric lines.
I didn't visit Penang, but I guess you have more action (Langkawi is very quiet) and Kuala Lumpur is great, more modern than BKK.
It was funny to see how, in a muslim country, they can celebrate christmas, with many trees and decorations in all the supermarkets in KL, x-mas songs in every hotels... I was coming back from the beach or the swimming pool and there was "jingle bells" inside the hotel.... crazy
The hotels are, I think, a bit more expensive, but food is as cheap as in LOS.
as often, you will get the best price if you find some hotels you like on Internet, then call them to deal the price.

5555, Oralnut, you are taking ME for an expert in that domain?
No man I tried this one's, but although a funny story, the "petite morte", was not very nice.
But i would be suprised, being an Islam - country, that it would be so much tolerated as in Thailand! I have never been there, just know that the prices for girls are much higher in KL.
Normally I am going a few days, end of November, so we will see, but no LB's for me anymore!

KL prices:
Hotels - about the same as BKK
Girls in Beach Club and Hard Rock - RM 3-400
Booze- Bottle of JW Black at Beach Club - RM 350 after bargaining
Bt 8000 per day? Rather stay home than pinch pennies on my holiday.

I'm thinking next tour will be via KL, just to have a look, few days there via Malaysian Airways then Patong and then straight transfer through KL to London. Partly to see KL, but also partly to break up the pattern of London-Bangkok trips -otherwise people will get the right idea
Maybe via Singapore after that....

I am working in KL. It's a pleasant change from BKK. Not as much nightlife but fun can be had. It's clean, great shopping for clothes, etc. that you can't find in BKK. The wife loves it. The Beach Club, Thai Club, and Hard Rock are packed every night. The Thai Club is connected to a hotel named Havana. A room can be had for RM 128. Not 4 star but not bad. the action is just out your door.

I have never tried a BG in Malaysia, I have not even found a bar with a BG's staff in Langkawi, but I have to say that I travelled with my Belgian GF, so ...
About the BG's, it would mabe better to have a stop in Phuket and take a BG on holidays to Malaysia.... but I doubt she will like the food.
Many restaurants say that they can cook chinese and Thai but their Thai food is just chinese with more peppers.
Nice country, nice people, but I definitively prefer LOS

The problem is that bg's do not have passports most of the time.
That is my dilemia, I would like to spend a few days in KL and Langkawi, but I don't want to be there without a sweetie.
On Lankawi, I was told there were no Bg's, and the timetable of Air-asia is not good to make a stopover in KL on the way to Langkawi.
If even I would take a girl in KL to come to me to Langkawi, for 4 night that would be very expensive!

Malaysian Chinese food is at least 10 times better than the Thai food...that is why we need to improve on the Thai food!!!!
Apparently you haven't tried the authentic Chinese, Malay and Indian food in Malaysia!
Malaysian Chinese

I guess Penang is busier and it's rather close to Langkawi.
Malaysian, don't you think it would be easier for Tintin to find a girl in Penang, then take her to Langkawi and KL ? I don't know Penang, so you probably can give some good advice about it

Penang is far enough!
Several possibilities:
Find a girl in langkawi
Find one in KL
Or....if the BG before I leave has a passport.......
