Can be anything from 100k to many mnay millions of baht..
The questions your asking are just way to vague.. Come here and live for at least 6 months or a year in rented accomodation.. Travel round the country a little.. Get a feel for how visa regs, local areas, tourist towns v less so all feel like to you..
Otherwise you will be lambs to the slaughter..

If you have a bit of a search through the board, you'll find some past posts which give some quite good and detailed info. In particular I think take a look through the expat forum.
For an idea on what on offer take a look at http://www.sunbeltasia.com/ and also at http://www.thaivisa.com

Hi Debs, just wondering how much time your family has spent in Thailand/Samui so far?
I simply wonder why so many falangs seems to think that they can make money by simply turning up to a county and culture they do not know and there buying into a buisness in which they have no experience??
Probably the best advice anyone could give you is to forget about owning a bar, at least until you have been here some time and have spoken at length with numerous bar owners.
I know of one bar here in Samui that has changed owners 6 times in 12 months! The majority of bars here seem to average only 0-3 customers in them at any one time. A couple seem busy and must be turning over some good cash, but how 9 out of 10 bars here survive, who knows?
A decent '3 roomed house' here will cost you at least 5 million b and prove to be a much wiser investment than a bar...Property in Phuket is less expensive than Samui.
It has been raining here most days for the last few months. Should clear up around December - so I am told!

You feel property is cheaper in Phuket than Samui ?? Every time I go to samui I am stunned by cheap(er) land prices and house and villa prices.. Finding a nice villa with pool for <8 mil here is tough.. 4 - 6 in Samui... A largeish place would be 12 here and 8 Samui.. Coastal superb seaview prime land on Samui in the 2 - 3 mil range (nearly bought 3 rai) where seaview west coast land on Phuket is 8 - 15..
