samui warning
AUSTRALIAN officials in Thailand have warned travellers to be on their guard after the murder of a British woman and the abduction of a Brazilian tourist.
The warning follows the slaying of 21-year-old Briton Katherine Horton, whose body was found floating off the popular resort island of Koh Samui.
Thai police are also searching for a 25-year-old Brazilian woman, Talipa Rosini, who disappeared in the southern province of Surat Thani, near the island of Koh Phangan.
Ms Rosini, a fashion model, was allegedly approached by two men who took her away in a truck.
Police believe she may still be alive.
An Australian official said the incidents highlighted the need for foreign travellers to be on their guard.
