from mainland(surathani) its possible to get a boat direct to phangan,takes just over an hour if a i remember correctly.

just correcting myself......... sure samui to phangan is around a hour,on the website posted it states surathani to phangan is 3 hours...sure it didnt take that long.

I am planning on going there on the 31st, so i thought i rent a room somewhere nearby so i just hop on the boat and hope off it without wasting any travel time, as im due to be on the plane home on the 2nd

Gotta make sure i arrive on the right beach of Phangan, as according to the picture, boats go to different beaches, and i want to be on the one that hold the party.

Thats Haad Rin beach.. Speed boats drop at Haad Rin but all of the ferry style boats will drop at the pier farther up round the island AFAIK.. If coming from Samui its easier to get a speedboat but from Surat I have always used ferries..

I did depart from Haad rin by ferry once but never worked out where the ferry had come in from.. May have been Surat / Samui / Phan Gan ferry ??
