I have not been to Samui for a while.
I was there when I stayed for 3 months during September 2001. I stayed at the Bayview over looking the sea with great rooms which no one could over look where you could nude sunbathe in your own patio over looking the sea view.
I then moved to the Pavillion on the beach in Lamai and found this wonderful 20 year old American girl lying naked on the beach, so we got talking and would always go and check our email in the afternoon; but alas she was 'loved up' and waiting for her American Football Quarterback boyfried to join her.
I then met some Isreali girls who were on a long Holiday and would always bump into them, they told me about the September 11 attacks whilst I was there one night and we spent the next 2 days in the pub in Lamai just watching re-runs, we could not belive it; I was terrified when I had to eventally fly from Samui to Phuket and the plane suddenly banked hard right; I was convinced taht the pilots where from Al Qieda Airlines.
I had to go to Nathon to extend my 30 day tourist visa and the Police were really friendly, gibing me a drink and joking as they took my Photo; genuine nice warm people, they even gave me a lift back to Chaweng.
Great memories of the Island of the Coconut; they export millions of them to Thailand every month. I really fell in love with this island and would sit on the beach dreaming about being Magnum and living on Samui; growing a mustache and driving a red ferrari araound the island with my own PI Business and living in Robin's nest with Higgins and TC; beach day dreams they are what the holiday is all about as you come round and nurse off last nights hangover.
I used to hang out in Lamai at the Siam Bar and Grill where I met a loverly girl called Sa, who could not speak English but she had a very kind heart and can to see me off at the airport.
I did not go back then until the Tsunami in December 26th 2004 when the Banthai got hit in Patong in Phuket and we were asked to leave ASAP, before another one came in.
So I got a flight to Samui and caught up with my friends Sim and Paul from the Saim Bar and Grill opposite the Bauhouse in Lamai. Some friend from the Rotary club having a 'civiised birthday party'; a good night to reflect on life etc and the luck of escaping from the Tsunami.
I then went to Chawend for News Year Eve, before flying back to Phuket and Patong.
I am going to visit Lamai again in April (Singapore, Bangkok, Samui, Phuket, Singapore) and I am really looking forward to getting back and relaxing.
Phuket (at 4 times a year) is getting a bit stale for me; so I am looking forward to a nice change.
Watching that crazy Mr Coconut singing his silly song whilst drinking a cold drink at the bar of the Pavillion Hotel on Lamai beach as the sun goes down and you have showered and changed and are just charging the batteries ready for the night ahead; a nice meal and a glass of wine then the worm tropical night air;
the bronzed honey coloured shiney skinned smiling goddesses with there welcoming dazling smiles inviting to stop and take a drink.
How could you resist those sculpted bodies in their figure hugging jeans and tight tops and their infectious fun and enthusiasum for love and life.
The drink; women; and tropical warm air whilst looking up at the stars seems to go to your head and make you dizzy............wonderful
Regards
