Detoxifying in Samui
Living the lifestyle some of us do, the idea of a detox was quite appealing.
So when a friend informed me about Spa Samui, I decided to go for it.
Located in the hills above Lamai, Spa Boon Kow, as the locals call it, is a very peaceful place dedicated to just one thing.
Getting rid of all the crap that has accumulated in your system over years and years of hard living.
A week before, you have to go on a self imposed diet of alkaline foods, mostly uncooked, ie. fruits, salads (no meat and absolutely no alcohol).
Once you reach the spa, you undertake a 7.5 day fast.
During this time, you do not take any solid food. Just liquids, coconut water once a day and a broth made from boiling potato skins in water with some cayenne pepper.
5 times a day, you will take a bunch of capsules that contain the vital minerals your body needs. And 5 times a day, you will also consume a drink of psyllium husk mixed with pineapple juice, to build fibre in your system.
Most people think they are going to die of hunger but this is not true. You see, after 36 hours of going without food, the stomach ceases to produce acids. Your digestive system shuts down, allowing the body to focus all its energy on the process of getting rid of all the toxins that have built up in your body and more importantly, in your colon.
NOW THIS IS THE PART THAT WILL NO DOUBT GENERATE PAGE UPON PAGE OF TOILET JOKES. SO BE IT.
All the toxins from your tissues, lungs, skin etc are carried in the lymphatic system to your colon, ready for expulsion.
In order to force them out, you must administer yourself a Colema (a colonic enema). Using a specially formulated board and with the help of an instructional video, you basically give yourself a colema with a hot water solution of organic coffee (coffee causes peristyalsis--muscle contractions in the colon).
You will be amazed at the decades of crap that comes out. I can tel you straight up that it is not what you normally expel on the crapper. In fact, it is what has commonly come to be known as Mucoid Plaque, which is basically putrefied meat that lies undigested in your gut for years.
I dont want to say more except that I came away from this experience almost 9 kilos lighter. I felt I had more energy, needed less sleep than ever and was clear-headed like never before.
Of course, right after, I caught a plane to Phuket and ****ed myself up for the next 2 weeks.

It's funny, but a well known BM posted almost an exact story a couple of years ago when he was in Samui. He certainly didn't mention a diet of fruit for a week, nor the fasting for 7.5days
It's no wonder you lost 9kgs..........I would have lost the will to live after not eating a decent meal in 14 days
Anyway, in the other post, the BM went on to say he experienced the very same things as yourself, but did report expelling a road sign, a rusty bucket and an old bike frame!
Maybe these colonic irrigations are really good for you.

Erm, since you already got the recipe on how to detox, you can always do it at home?
Have not fast before.

A lot of people, guys specially, get all squeamish when the colema bit is discussed--however there is absolutely nothing about it that is painful or embarrassing.
The colon is where all the toxins come to reside and over the years these toxins seep into the general system, causing various cancers (so Marc, you are right) and chronic debilitating conditions. That's when the doctors usually say, "It's old age, nothing you can do about it."
Well, there is something you can do about it now.
I paid just US$300 for the first time course plus 1200B per night for the room.
Anyway, if you're not ready for it yet, you can always start off slowly.
I found this great place in Phuket called Pun Pun Juice Centre. Its located beside the Starbucks on Patong, right behind the 'Island' which functions as a bar. They do a great Liver Flush drink there. Tastes vile but works for me. Also, lots of other great tasting stuff there. A great way to temper the excesses of the night before.
SIDE NOTE:
One of the downsides of fasting is that you do not feel at all horny. Couple of times I sat at a beer bar drinking water. It was either the fasting, or the ugly chicks but there were no rumblings down under. Well, there was one who almost got my motor going but it was hard work so I left it at that. My first time in Samui without busting a nut.

Tv
This place was filmed as a documentary in the UK and there were about 4 people who went to it.
There was this big guy from Essex who got drunk as a skunk on the plane on the way over and at the Spa the night before, then he went and did what you just described.
There all appeared to suffer various ills and ailments (one of the women almost had a nervous breakdown, but I think she had problems in general).
Anyway by the end of it they all agreed that they had lost weigh and had more energy, the big guy even went on to lose a lot of weight and run the London Marathon.
I have watched it on Sky Satellite TV a couple of times and it always make me laugh when you see them sifting through their buckets of kack and looking at what was inside them.
Regards
Drew

Does this place in Samui have a website cos I may give it a go myself.
The main hurdle for me shall be the self imposed diet for a week prior to staying at the spa.

www.spasamui.com
The self imposed diet is not so bad, just strictly no booze or meat of any sort. Of course, the more fresh salad, fruit you eat, the better.
Thats because your gut should be in an alkaline state prior to starting the fast, not acidic. This helps the fast proceed without discomfort.
The sacrifice is negligible and well worth it in the end.

Just reading this review in the Times of the resort.
My Thai colonic irrigation - Times Online
If you dont want to go all the way to Koh Samui or you can't afford to you can buy Physillium Husks online and taken once a day they really clear you out.
