Boput vs Lamai

Which has a nicer beach and swimming? Without considering nightlife, restaurant selection, etc., which do you prefer?

Be careful wirh Lamai as there is one part of the beach which is filthy as a dirty creek spills into it. The best resort are those that are south of that creek.

Both beaches are great for swimming, although Lamai gets quite strong waves at times, whereas Bophut is protected by Koh Phangan which keeps it quite calm

I like Lamai as the all rounder spot.. Easy jaunt to Chaweng, but nice slow bar life there.. Have considered it as a place to live a few times !!

When I was at Bohput, it was high tide and the beach was non existant, so have to say Lamai....agree with LiL on the scene at Lamai as well but Bohput is worth a visit as a cute villiage.

I think they are talking about the scrubby island sand/mud bank at the northern end of Chaweng Beach Tommy. People book beach front accommodation and dont look at a good map and see that it shelters the northern resorts and detracts from the view and sea action...
