KSamui in May

Hi, wondering you anyone can provide me with some info. Thanks in advance. I'm heading out to Samui during the 2nd weekend of May. Just wanted to know if during the low season the night life is still bumping. What are some good beer bars and go-go to chill at? Any gf good hotel near soi Mango? Again thanks for any inputs.

K2, thanks for the info. I will check out those clubs and hotels. I guess my question is really how are the girls in samui? Are there less because of the low tourist season? Do they migrate else where such as Pattaya or Phuket? I was in Phuket early fall 2007 and the quality was great. Should I expect the same from Samui?

I'd say not - especially if you mean thai bar girls - may well be better taking someone special there as in general quality is not that great. Low season doesnt make much difference especially in Samui as since the tsunami Sumui doesnt have much of a real low season - because of the full moon parties and club scene its pretty busy all year round.

May well be better looking amongst the many hot farang girls there.

Hi!
I'm in Samui at the moment and am staying at Chaweng Beach, the main tourist Centre and Nightlife Scene on the Island.
It's hot as hell here right now, although some clouds and a few drops of rain came during the last few days, when the outskirts of a Tyfoon passed by, but the scourching sun came out in full force again today!
We are still waiting for the real Rainy Season to come and cool us down, it usually comes here a few weeks later than in Phuket.
Not that many tourists here right now, low season has started, but still enough to keep the parties going.
Last night a bit quiet on Samui as most of the young revellers went to the Fullmoon Party at Koh Phangan.
I'm too old for parties myself but do enjoy some female company now and then!
There's no shortage of beerbars here, so no real need to bring your own company, although it's still a nice place to bring a girlfriend.
Beersbars that were once scattered along the beachroad has with a few exceptions, been moved to Soi Reggae Pub and Soi Green Mango, named after two of Samui's most famous and longest running discos.

Soi Green Mango is a U-shaped street lined by beerbars and some newer more posh pubs and clubs and in among them you have 3 GoGo bars.
Dreamgirls a quite big and dark but airy room with a revolving stage in the middle were the girls dance in two teams, one younger and one with slightly older girls take turn to wiggle their assets on stage!
Used to be some really pretty and stunning girls in here 2-3 years ago, but has declined considerably to just average looking or below the last couple of years!
Most girls seems to look pretty bored when they dance though, and don't put down too much effort than the usual Eesarn Shuffle!
Still a nice place to hide out from the sweltering heat outside and pour down a few cold ones, and have a chit chat with some of the talents!
Just across from this bar is the newly opened Club 69, same owner and slightly smaller and more intimate inside, narrow stage with a small revolving platform at the end.
Girls dance much more entusiastic in here and there are a few young sexy looking in among the more rough!
Both bars have softcushioned seatings around the mirrorclad walls
Continue inside the soi pass Green Mango Discotheque and turn left at the bend were the now closed GoGo bar GB Lounge used to be, you'll come to the Moby **** Guesthouse and this is were most beerbars are situated and down a smaller lane to the right you have Samui's best GoGo bar Charlie's Angels!
A new modern posh nicely laid out place, with some of Samui's prettiest girls!
Some of the talents in here are as goodlooking as in any bar in Pattaya or BKK, and most of them really knows how to move on the centrally located twotiered stage!
Very comfy seatings and plenty of room, a great place to just sit and relax and watch the bikiniclad girls, it's quite spacious with a second floor as well.

Soi Reggae Pub on the other side of "the Lake", now is the main centre in Chaweng for Beerbars, walking along the soi towards the worldfamous Disco Reggae Pub at the far end you'll be constantly "harassed" by "moneystarved" bargirls and katoeys that will do anything to try and drag you into their bar!
Near here are also 2 of Samuis Boxingstadiums where Muey Thai will be held regularly.
One former GoGo-Coyotee place has now been turned into "Samui Pascha" another disco, playing some of the modern stuff music that the young crowds today craves!
It's near the end just before Reggae Pub were live music bands will be playing most nights and it's not only the reggae.

Bar-prices in Samui are the same as in Pattaya, 2-300 baht barfines in Beerbars and 500 baht in the GoGos.
Beerbar girls will go for 1000 baht LT and GoGo girls 1000-1500 baht ST and 1500-2500 baht for LT.

Lamai a bit further down the road than Chaweng has a better beer bar and disco scene than Chaweng

Ther are about 4 decent western style nightclubs which don't get going until midnight and a complex of about 30-40 beer bars which are there for the pick-ups.....can't vouch for the quality though.....I prefer the nightclubs which have a good assortment of FLs

If you wanna stay smack in the middle of the action right on Soi Green Mango Moby **** Guesthouse is the place, or the Penny Lane just behind it!

I've never been inside any of them though, so I'm not sure if they are "decent" enough!?
Moby **** has a restaurant downstairs.
I know that the nearby bars use "Penny Lane" as a Short Time place for 500 baht for a quickie!
There are several other guesthouses on or near Beach Road in this area.
No swimming pools, but decent rooms enough with Air, Cable TV,Minibar, Hot/Cold water shower.
Prices range from about 700 baht a night and up, further from the centre in some of the smaller sois off Beach Road you can find similar accomodation from about 500 baht a night.

Here's a good website with info and photo-galleries of Dreamgirls and Club 69, plus maps of other bars on Samui Island!

Ark Bar, cheweng gardens, montien house - all on the beach within 100m of green mango.

How much do you want to spend?

BTW Moby Dicks is next door to the Sound Bar which is being renovated at the moment, so expect lots of noise, and when it's back open it stays open until 6am so you wont get much sleep either way.

hotel

First of all thanks for the link, plahgat. Samui looks fun, just want to get away from BKK for a while. Secondly I would like to find a nice secure GF hotel for a max of 2000 B per/day. Definitely will check out club 69.

From bophut on samui (close to airport) there is a ferry wich brings you to had rin (FMP beach) in about 45 minutes if I'm correct. There are several boats a day which do this trip.

Samui is bigger and has more bars and girly scene, phangan is more of a western party island. FMP is great to experience.
