i really dont get these
just a novelty i dont get

the one i was in in BKK, it was a regular bar with basically an ice freezer
felt like i was in a meat locker

Same same the one in Patong, big freezer, with a vodka bar, barkeeper and two girls who went in whenever they had a customer.

I know what you mean but if you go in with a Thai girl they love it; as they have never expereinced cold before.

My friend who used to study at Edinburgh University and she was from Thailand and used to go nuts when it snowed and said she loved the cold as it was something she had never felt for 25 years in her life.

I think it is as much for the Tourists taking their girlfriends in there as a target market; it was always when I went in the Patong one.

It is outside Ocean Shopping centre on Bangla at Le Jaguer Bar.It is just a big walk in freezer.

Yeah, I have only been there two times. The one you and me went to is not the one mentioned above, we went to v2o between Tiger and Happy Road. (The first one in Patong, the one outside Ocean opened later and I have never been there).

Its fun to try once or twice tho.

i have been in the one on walking street in pattaya i had to laugh when they were dishing out the parka jackets to the thais before they went in me and my mate went in short sleeved shirts REAL MEN OR MAYBE JUST NO PARKAS TO FIT US 555555 i loved the chocolate flavoured vodka lovely but agree one visit is enough !

Oh dear i have just realised the date of this forum sorry i am so late.
But listen people, The ice bar in Koh Samui is nothing like the other bars you mention. I havent been to the Phuket one but went to the walk in freezer type bars you mention in Bangkok and Pattaya and they are crap. The samui one is in a different world. It is much much bigger and is more of a Thai culture ice museum than a bar. Do not be fooled by the other ones. I now make a point of going back each time i am in Samui as the staff are so welcoming. ( i agree though, you only need to go once to eperience the ice bar)
This has to be in the top 3 things to do in Samui. If you decide to go i cant wait to hear your comments.

Lol. Wish i had that sort of money. I did make good friends there though and didnt think it was deserving of the comparison with the others. If it was crap i would say it was crap

Hi guys,

I went there in my last trip in Phuket on August 2008, funny place but only for few minutes...200 baht for every wodka,...not so good if just finish to eat!!!!

They have another ice bar in Pattaya connected to the Amari hotel:
Amari Nova Suites
254 M.9, Soi Petchtrakool
Pattaya City 20260

But I found it a little bit expensive 500 THB for 20 minutes of free drinks.... wodka, rum ect ect.
