Full Moon Party on KPG and various other questions..

Hi All,

Traveling to KPG with 6 mates over XMAS and New Year and I have a few questions about what to do and what to expect.

Firstly, is it important to get accommodation with Air Con? I'm not a huge fan of being really hot at bed time so would you recommend it or does the island cool down enough when the sun sets?

Secondly, with the FMP, is it dangerous? Is there a police presence there? The reason I ask is that I have heard stories about violence and various drug busts/scams.. What have your experiences been?

Go for an aircon room, it does not cool down at night (climate wise speaking).

Dont do drugs in Thailand and the police are not always there to protect !

get aircon for sure !..

drugs are there on the beach you do get asked just say no thanxs keep on walking..

i never saw police there, but there is a police station

have been to 2 FMP's and id reccommend air con rooms and also to book asap if you havnt alreasy because its prob one of the bigger parties because of NY's and it gets full pretty quick...

When i was there i was told there were only a couple policemen patrolling the area, mind you i never even saw one and i was there for 10 days...

Drugs!!!! i wouldnt advise you to buy any off the beach or anywhere else... If anything there is the mushy mountain where they make the shakes for ya.. But there are Thai guys offering dope and extacy to you but if i were you id say no...

I seen a bloke the night of the FMP that bought i think it was 6 off a Thai guy and a while later i bumped into him again and he was complaining they were no even E's..... But thats not the reason i wouldnt buy them.. It could be a setup and if you get done you'll either be up for some big get me out of jail cash or worse....

Mate they've got buckets there.. Mixed drinks and they are super strong.. I had 4 and i couldnt remember what the hell happened the night before....I think they're good enough

Pretty sure i'll go for the air con.. I'm pretty temperamental with temperature, probably better not to risk it..

I wasn't worried about the drugs or really even inquiring about them.. Not my scene, as long as there are beers and the occasional bucket of mixed carnage, i'll be happy.. The last thing I would do is buy drugs in Thailand, even if I was into that.. The last thing my holiday needs is a dodgy Thai cop tapping me on the shoulder..

Are there bars there? I mean, is the nightlife scene anything like Phuket? I'm responsible for planning a trip for all my mates and I don't want to stuff it up! Don't want to give them any reason to complain that I should have taken them to Phuket for the entire time! We are spending most of our 3 weeks in KPG and a week or so in Phuket.. Whats it like on KPG?? As good as I've heard??

What are you looking for, if girls/bars/discos etc and lots to do Pattaya a week, Phuket a week and a more laid back Samui / KPG split may have been a good choice with few days in BKK on the way out.

I sway between preferring Phuket to Pattaya and back, at the moment i left Phuket early and came to Pattaya - Phuket with the early closing, low season and handful of decent places to go became a little dull. Pattaya scope if greater, beaches not as nice but as i said it depends what you are after. Bangkok air flies between the 2

Im 21,

went over to KPG for new years last yr 07-08... so was 20 then was best time i ever had went with a group of the boys we went 1 nite phuket got a taste of it.. then went to KPG for 7 nites then back to Phuket for 4nites..

we found with phuket.. u kinda get over it.. like in the day its boring once uve seen some of the shops uve seen all.
the beach isnt that exciting compared to the beach at KPG.

you get over the nite really just bars but the girls are good.

KPG full moon 7nites was the best bit.. if u love partying and if the boys love partying..


this yr we loved it that much we doing it again..

but we doing just 1 night Phuket 7 nite KPG then 2 nites Koh Samui then 4 nites Pattaya ... pattaya loooks aweseome for the girls n stuff.. more pumpin the phuket..

just remember Phuket has way more to offer than just Patong...get out and about...there are some wonderful beaches and othr towns well worth exploring.....

There are 7 of us going.. I'm 24 (3 of us are) and the rest are 28 (but still love to party)..

Really glad to hear you had a good time.. I was hoping someone would jump on here and say they party with the best of them and had a good time in KPG. I was a little worried.. I have been to Patong 3 times and I love it.. Never found it boring during the day because I hardly saw the sun haha.. bit hungover for snorkeling i'm afraid..

I haven't booked accommodation yet, a few of the boys went over last year and they said they rocked up on the 28th and had no problems getting a decent spot because most of the bungalow places can't be booked online... can anyone confirm or deny that from personal experience? And, if they have stuffed up, surely there will be more happening on KPG than just at Haad Rin?

hmm i wouldnt leave booking on KPG till when you get there on the day , i wouldnt wing it.. cause you wanna stay on had rinn beach man.. so much better walking down the beach go nuts at the clubs then just walk back messily to ur place. instead of trekking from the other side of the island in a tuk tuk to the party central then back feeeling messy/seedy as. also its the new years party. its the biggest of them all!! and u may all not get to stay in the same hotel etc

try this place FAIRYLAND CLUB RESORT: HAD RIN NOK, KOH PHANGAN, THAILAND
we were gonna stay there,its at a good spot of had rinn beach up the other abit abit away from the action.. more near mushroom mountain ..

this year we are staying at Phangan Tommy Resort Koh Phangan its just 2 down from fairyland. but they may be booked out try.

or here Palita Lodge this place is located inbetween both the places above stayed there last time best play so cut we couldnt stay there again cause our group is bigger like 13 of us so we couldnt all stay. so you may have a better chance!!
