Quite a view you have there. Which beach is this?

I was in Samui last February and will definitely be making a return in 2009. Stayed at Chaweng beach for convenience (close to nightlife) but I think I will be looking for a month stay somewhere in the vicinity of fisherman's village, choeng mon, big budda...

Is there any work available for Americans besides running your own business? I wouldn't mind settling down in Samui for a while. I felt a more "at home" feeling in Samui than Phuket, because of the small size of the island. Even though the roads are not as good as Phuket, I spent time riding around the island and found this nice secluded beach. Not sure exactly where, all I remember is someone had a house there with a big hoovercraft, and a beautiful beach with no one in sight.

Some of the photos are from the Jungle Club, up on a mountain between Lamai and chaweng, looks out onto chaweng, chongmon etc.

I live in a new resort up a on hill between tesco and Big C, lovely view close to lots of nice beaches, cleaner comes in every day, resturant, inifinity pool and good internet connection into my room and all for only 7000b a month plus electric and water. The photos below are my place.

There is work on the island for farangs, depends what skills you have?

Skills range from anything computer related, finance, hooking up with uni girls, etc...

Currently I do website related work which allows me to travel. I would be looking into getting involved in some sort of project or other technical related work to keep busy. Working with other farangs would prevent my English from completely deteriorating into broken English/Thai, and secondly, I wouldn't mind a 1 year visa. Finding work there isn't a priority, but would definitely help bring some balance to all the drinking & partying.

Your place has a great location, close to both fisherman's village and chaweng nightlife, and at the price is quite a steal. How is the on site restaurant? Is there a nearby gym? And please stop posting all these picture, it's killing me being in the USA at the moment. At least there's no thai girls in them.

The company I work for is web based so we always need staff with IT skills and yes working here gives you a good balance.

Just for you

Yeah a lot busier but still very nice, and because of the amount of divers on the island the beaches are nice and quiet during the day and the bars start getting busy along the beach around sunset time and by 2am things have slowed down as all the divers prepare for getting up early to go diving.
There are a few girly bars in sairee and a fer more up on the main road at Mae Had (even a coyotte bar).

The beach bars go to a lot of effort look nice on koh tao, really pretty lights and been bags on the beach, fizz and mooz play some really nice chilled house music.

Wow, 7k a month. That seems really good value (but I wouldnt really know...)

Nice pictures by the way!

I am going back to Samui just before Christmas, first time visiting Samui since 2002. I will be staying at Lamai Beach. I am expecting it to be a quiet week for me......but who knows?

Great pics, thank you.

As for living on the island: I'm working towards a career where basically all I need is an internet connection and I can work from anywhere in the world. How reliable are ISPs on Samui?

Philly, is the place you are staying at near the Cliff Bar and Grille. Took my partner there for her birthday two years ago. Cliff bar is an awesome place and some great views from the outside eating area
