Does anybody know how often these ferries are and the time they take and cost etc...?

Also how busy is Chaweng mid May?

I don't know about the ferry, but it should not be too crowded in May.

I was there last year and compared to December/January there were not so many people. So more freelancers for you

I was there on feb 8th, got a flight by Air asia from Bangkok to Sorat thani, got the combined ticket ( Bus+ Ferry)to Koh Phangan for 450 Bht at Surat Thani airport.
the ticket to Koh Samui costs 350 Bht.

It took 4.5 hours to reach Koh Phangan.

hmmm seems pricey to me.....so it took u 4.5 hours to get to koh phangan from bangkok ,sounds about right if u flew and that was including transfer times.....boat transfer to phangan from donsak was'nt 350b when i went,maybe the price has increased in the last couple of years...it was no more than 200b then....u can get a boat+minbus service to phangan for 450 baht from phuket.
