my thoughts on samui
im in samui for the 1st time. im staying at robb's from wet willy's house dwon here. ive onlky see chaewang so far but i dont think its as nice as phuket, even patong. but i like its beachy atmosphere, and the farang restaurants look much nicer. there is so many farangs here, it outnumbers the thais. went to green mango, big dico/bar, i thought it was really good. there definitely alot less quality girls down here but you can always find someone you like. i think its alot more competive, where guys will try and steal away a girl your talking to(in my case last night, an lb, but ill get to that in a minute. i just rented a bike, so ill see more of the island. oh, and there wasa black moon party last night, its a smaller version of a full moon party. it was awesome, i always thought i would not like it, but its awesome, seeing 5000 people partying on the beach, and there were alot more tg's at the party than i thoguht.
i think ive been wioth one lb before but it was one of those, picking them up on the street, and she had all the right equipment bt i dont know. last night i was hanging out with an lb in the bar, something ive never done before, but she was the best looking lb ive ever seen. her body was amazing. she, or he, was kinda weird, totally didnt seem into me, had a bunch of other guys hitting on her, we never talked money so it wasnt like she was staying by me because i told her id give her so much, but i asked her to leave with me and she said yes. when we got back to robb's house she passed out, and i went out back to the black moon party and picked up a real tg and banged her. the only thing is this afternoon when the lb woke up, even though she was incredible looking, i really didnt have the desire to bang her. i guess with me, it has to be a quick wham bam thing if i go with a lb. i think if i sped too much time with them, i start to get turned off. so i gave her 500baht and sent her on her way.

I agree with what you said about the competition there, and also the restuarants are very good. But I didn't much care for Chaweng, definitely not as nice as Patong.
Check out Lamai. It is a weird, funky, but interesting, kinda laid-back town. I like Lamai. Nice beaches, and loads of BGs there. But the bars are funky and so are the girls. It almost seems like all the girls who weren't good-looking enough to get by in BKK, Pattaya, or Phuket, ended up in Lamai. It is the like the minor leagues of BGs!  There is about 2 good looking girls in the whole town, and, of course, they are always taken. Strangely enough, I really liked Lamai, in spite of it all! The girl I hooked up with there was not very good looking, but she was sexy, and always fun to be with. Really, she had the best attitude of any girl I've ever been with, BG, TG or farang girl!!

Graham, if you go I swear I will be the last man standing  !!!!While in Samui check out Mint bar beach party (wed I think) and Gecko Sunday sessions (Bhoput) if they are kicking on through the low season.. Gecko can have a really nice vibe, white couches on the beach, big drinks, cool place.. Also Lamai Supersub and rocking the pool after it kicks out (usually late).. I kicked that place off one night when right off my head we started chucking all and sundry (first GF's then each other, then innocent bystanders) into the pool.. Instead of getting beaten up everyone thought it was a blast and before you know it everyone was in the pool clothed and unclothed.. Fecking great night.. Not much of a green Mango fan but there are some hotpsots in Chaweng but names escape me.. I quite like the Lamai region for a place to live...

Well, how can you know that if you haven't tried it!
Well Mark, I have a bit the same findings as you about Koh Samui! But be carefull with the bike, it was there were I saw those 2 Thais killed before my eyes! And.....it was there that I tried my first and proberly only LB! Maybe the same one LOL But for me once was enough and hope the same about you! I really had a cold shower after that experience!  Again a LB is a men with (sometimes ) tit*, not a woman with a coc*!

Didnt make it too Lamai but from the sounds of it I dont think I would like it, Maybe too quiet and family orientated for me, But I was in cheweng and am quite surprised that the majority of you feel the same way about it because I thought it was great there and so was the nightlife, And I thought it was just as nice as patong and the beach was 10 times better from what I say of it, Maybe for the first time on the board, Its an age thing

I am / used to be very into house music.. Green mango seens to play the same recycled Goa trance every night.. The DJ's have a basic playlist and basic beatmix system.. At supersub you get unusual nights.. Sometimes it might be hard / techno which is not really my thing but other nights you get accapella / vocal / garage house, some times funky house.. deep dish type chunky stuff.. lots of variation, they also tend to have the touring UK DJ set come through more than mango..
Gecko can rock.. I went there for new year which had a lice up like any UK mega party for 500 or so mad for it people.. Brandon Block got married at sunset and it kicked off.. Gary Gecko runs a UK DJ agency and supplies a lot of DJ's to the Ibiza mega clubs.. They also ran the 'Son of a Beach' tour which must have been fun with a capital F.. Samui has a real scene which phuket doesnt have.. Tho Mango feel like a tourist trap to me..

LAMAI for me maybey because i am 42 years old now i found chaewang a bit too much like ibiza a place i would not go on a free holiday. ESPECIALLY LIKED THE bauhaus disco with the foam parties and also the live band at the siam bar and grill i agree many more bgs in lamai but although i was with my tgf i still saw many ladies there i would like to spend time with so can not agree that there are no good lookers there.

Had a good time but didn't rate Samui compared to Phuket, Chaweng everything was so spaced apart, its one really long road and we had a bike, Lamai was more like the soi's in bangla with quite a few tasty bg's, went and toured the whole island on the bike so that was quite nice but my overall opinion is I prefer Patong and mainly because most of the bars and clubs are all within easy walking distance along Bangla. The sea and beach are better in Samui and really liked the beach restaurants at night for the odd romantic meal before going out with tirak. Don't think it is an age thing although can understand as some of the clubs had lot younger people in than perhaps tai pan or tiger. Can't remember the name of the island just off Samui but tirak wants me to take her there for few days on my next tour, so perhaps i'll go back and reassess but for now my votes Patong.

If you took Bangla, and all the sois off Bangla and lined them up like it was just one long street, then Lamai is a little bit like that, with shops, restaurants and hotels thrown in along the way. Even the girls in Chaweng, which BTW seemed more family-oriented than Lamai, were noticeably better looking than the ones in Lamai. Much more competiton, but for better-looking girls IMHO. JayBee P.S. If the girls in Lamai have come up to the level of the Patong BGs, then I will definitely be spending a lot more time in Samui, as I really liked the beaches and laid-back feeling there. I finished my Songran 2004 trip there in May. At the time I was really liking Lamai much better than Patong, but when I returned at New Year's, I went back to Patong, mainly because of better-looking girls there, and because I don't like the way the bars are all on one long, long street(more or less) in Lamai, which makes for an awful lot of walking back and forth. But I like the small town feel of Lamai. Patong seems to be getting bigger and bigger and losing that small town feel.

like i said, i didnt go with the lb, backed out. but she really was the hottest thing in the club. i gave her the 500baht because in the morning she wanted to bang but i said no.
last night had another great time. went to that road that reggae pub is on. i really like these big open clubs. also went to bar solo last night late night. we ate at a beautiful italian restaurant called prego, it was fantastic. funny story, i ended up hooking up with a real spinner, she was 37kg. we were hanging out most of the and i only realized when we were leaving the last disco that she didnt have a left hand. oh well, she was alot of fun, one hand and all. i wouldnt stay in samui, ill always stay in phuket, but its nice having robb down here so i can come and hang out and crash at his place. to be honest, i just have to many friends in phuket, and that makes it the best place

well im in lamai now and i love it. this is my dream atmosphere. its so beachy and laid back. and to be honest, ive only been here about 4 hours in the middle of the day but i saw some pretty cute bg's already

Check out Bauhaus foam party if its happening.. Supersub and its pool at closing (5 - 7 last time I was there) lots of nice small bars..
My buddy has a hotel behind the wat on the hillside.. its away from the beach but great for me..

i like some of the discos in chaengway, but the congestion really gets to me. i actually had to go to the pharmacy because my sinuses were fu*&ed and i realized it was because of all the car exhausts.
last night was great, that soi that green mango was in was overflowing with people standing in the street drinking

Hey Mark:
There is a cool Thai boxing club on the way to Lamai from Chaweng. Going up the hill from Chaweng on your right. Sign up for a day of instruction. They will whip you ass into shape!! Good fun really> There is also a resort between Lamai and Chaweng called Nature Resort (Maybe) It is a rejuvination resort. You can get a colon cleansing there. Not everyones cup of tea but you will be shocked at what comes out of you!! Give it a try!! Have a blast mate. Cheers, Ashley
