Smile *Complete newbie going to Thailand!*

Firstly,

hello to everyone who have taken the time to look in....''

I have heard so much about Thailand and now at last I'm actually going Date: January 7th 2006 Just a few months away going for the full month which includes the flying time etc.

Now I will be honest I going for the nightlife and the girls simple as that!

I have been to Europe spending mostly time in Spain great clubs and lots of different Nationalities, Russians, Romanians, Brazialians great had a ball and had them all. (You don't really get Spanish girls working in the clubs)

Thailand? Haven't a clue......Going to try to pick up as much good advice from here as I can so let me explain my situation.

I have a flight direct to Bangkok on landing a connecting flight I think an hour later to Koh Samui.

My questions are this (Oh yes my friend from Spain apparently is still coming although paid for his ticket may not have the spending money to go great help he will be if I end up going on my own!

So whatever no big deal I'm going whatever happens......

My questions please as follows,

1) Should I go straight to Koh Samui or maybe stay in Bangkok?

2) I will need a good hotel which I understand will need to be girl friendly?

3) Because I don't know what anything costs what should I be paying for services provided?

As I said its all about having a good time when I go so any help would be greatly appreciated...''

I have time to get this right so maybe I will get the direction from you guys I need,

Thanks in advance

Samui is a great island but if you mean by nightlife that your coming for the girls its not the top spot.. Pattaya and Phuket are much more based around that kind of nightlife.

Hey no worries,

Yes he has to fly to the UK first as we are going from Heathrow (no flight from Spain direct) probably will use the easyjet or monarch cheap enough one way especially in January to here.

Cambridge? not too far just up the road I'm in Hertfordshire myself

You will need to fly to Samui and Phuket.
Pattaya is a 2 hour taxi ride from Bangkok.

If you have a month and as you say you are there for the nightlife why not follow something like this itinerary

spend 2 nights at least in BKK-plenty to see there with the biggest and most varied array of nightlife available to mankind

a taxi ride to pattaya for 3 nights (this is where the biggest seaside gogo action is in Thailand and some passable beaches like Jomtien + Naklua)

From there (U Tapoa airport nearby) take a direct flight to Samui - Samui has plenty of backapackers with related nightlife but some bar action in Lamai and FL (free lancers) action at some of the bigger nightclubs such as the Green Mango etc. I think you could be bored within a week so then it's off to Phuket.........

After that the balance of your time in Phuket/Patong which has the best balance of day time/night time activities in Thai..........

There are some other great places to visit in the North such as Chiang Mai Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son etc which will show you a more traditional and slower way of life however if its the bar scene + nightlife you are after........

You can follow the above by flying out of U Tapoa airport, Samui Airport + Phuket Airport on Samui Airlines (and possibly Bankok Air.........I haven't checked lately) just look up their websites

Hi KB,

i still think that what i said above is all valid after rereading it all...........

Check to see if your Samui fare is changeable and which airline you are on..........it may be simple just to swap it + top up with the Pattaya-Samui-Phuket airfare

Don't miss out on BKK.............it is a great place and is still the capital of the country + nightlife if it is the women you are ....................

Pattaya is second best for straight out mongering however after a few days you will be looking for some daytime stuff as well so there are beaches and nearby islands to visit here for that

Samui is 4th best................and quite a distant one at that..............more for the younger backpacker market but as I said it is still possible to find the kinds of things you are after................it's just the quantity and quality are inferior........still worth a visit tho but as I said keep your time there down to a few days unless you are on the lookout for farang women.........Lamai is the place here to find the beer bars but as I said the quality????

Phuket and in particular Patong Beach (third for straight out mongering but....) is where its at for a free and easy lifestyle cocktail of nightlife/daytime activities...................so if this is what you are after this is where you should spend your max time.

I hope this helps out with your planning.................but please bear in mind these are just my opinions...................read as much as you can from the board before you go

Thats what I said but he says there is a "Samui Airlines/Airways" but I never heard of it, As far as I know Samui and Pattaya(Ex-military Base) are privatly owned by Bangkok Airways.

Your right there no such airline. Samui is definitely privately owned by PG as is Sukhothai, not sure about Utapo

OK AB + Steve............the games up........I am guily.........as I've said in another post in answer to the same point as raised by AB there may not be a Samui Airlines anymore.........may have just been marketing....... but that's what my ticket was issued under and that's what was written down the side of the plane in Huge Blue Letters...........so. ......... if it looks like a duck and has duck written on it etc

My reference to "Samui fare" was not about Samui Airlines-KB said that he already has a fare/ticket paid for from BKK to Samui and wants to know whether to use it or not after finding out more about nightlife in Thailand-so I was responding to that...................what is your best advice to him on this and Samui itself as a place to interract with the local BG's

I think sometime ago Bangkok Airways had an ATR painted in a Samui livery which may well have had or looked like Samui Airways painted on the side. It doesnt really matter if it was Samui or even Chaweng Airlines, so long as you got where you wanted to go and had fun in the process.

Airfare will be at least double to Samui than to any of the other places because Bangko Airways is taking full advantage of being the only flight.
There are at least 2000 ladies available of all shapes and sizes. At 3 a day you need only 90 to keep you happy.

If you are flexible with time, You can get flights for as little as 4800bt Samui/Bkk return + 400bt departure tax.

As far as I know though he has a flight to Samui already paid for in his package holiday, So if he wants to go to do 2wks in Phuket he can get flights for 4400bt return between the dates of 14th Jan - 28th Jan, And then back to Samui for the final week to chill out.

Dont know who booked your tickets or when for but BKK Samui BKK (or Samui BKK Samui) Just showed up with websaver fares on the website for 2000 baht each way..

Yes theres going to be a couple hundred fuel surcharge (but all domestics are adding this now) and yes the private airport charges you a departure tax (but thats hardly BKK airs fault)..

All I am saying is BKK air is not one of the expensive airlines and is substantially cheaper than Thai.. Certainly not twice the rpice of any competitors.. Thier Samui run seems only similar to thier Phuket run in prices, and thats without the hassle of dealing with a private airport that charges them a fortune so I hear..

The Departure tax for Samui is 400 baht. The Airport is owned by Bangkok Airways, no-one else has that route and that is why the departure tax is so high.

I didnt know it was owned directly by BKK air.. Just thought they had a sole use concession..

I know they are the only company in there tho..
