Samui to FMP

Do I actually need to stay in Koh Phangan in order to go for the FMP?
Or is there one in Samui?

You can get speed boats from Samui over to Phangan for the party

i went in august and it was 500 baht for ruturn trip in a spead boat, was an awsome party, really worth going.

Dont get the ferry across! Its cheaper, but so slow & boring.
