23rd March - America Vs Sweden

Well after me and the boy defeated Australia at the weekend and as England have remained totally undefeated so far this year we decided to break the team and Duncan turned up today in matching yellow shirts with Nicke for team Sweden, I wore my stars and stripes shirt to partner Pablo for America and the result!!!

America records the first ever whitewash with a 5-4 win, Nicke's game didn't come on until half way round and Duncs was suffering from too many late nights down Bangla, but team America were just awesomwe, Pablo was steady eddy all the way round and I had a good first 6 holes level par!! bring on those Irish we'll show em that a couple of rag and bone man can play.

Apologise to Bigboy I missed the shooting yesterday had to do some work???
but congratulations to Nicke on winning with a perfect score, word is he has been practising with Lightemup and commiserations to Majortom with not such a perfect score.

Whoops forgot to post for the last 3 weeks:-

30th April

We decided to split the invincible team once more and this time I played for Sweden with my ever trusty partner Nicke, Duncs played with Pablo for team america. Well the americans didn't quite get a white wash but did me and Nic up a treat at 4-3 victory.

6th April

biggest turn out so far 6 guys, we threw up the balls and Nicke, Pablo and Oskin played in one three ball, we did try to play all 6 together but the starter said that because the course was very busy we couldn't do it this week. Duncan, IJ and myself went out next. We had decided to play skins for 20 bahts, poor ol johnny had a bad start not clearing the water but I think this was because his mind was on how many shots he could talk us into giving him, we conceded to a shot a hole, which was far too many cos the boy can play. Halved the first but here comes the laughing Irishman all the way to the second with a par 4 net birdie 3, 2 skins 40 bahts, nearly enough for a beer!!! However by the third the joint efforts from the two of us had managed to match the blarney from the man himself and luckily for us we walked off me with 4 skins, Duncs with 3 and IJ with the just the early 2, but what a great match, played with fun and good banter all the way round. One Irishman down now just waiting for Ally!!! (Starsky and Crutch - huh!!)

14th April

didn't play thursday this week cos it was songkhran and we felt we needed to make an appearance down the bangla. Played today, Nelson and Pablo were due to join us as Nicke couldn't cos he was working. Lasty saw Nelson in the late bar in Soi Sansabai at 4am sttled in for a good sess so didn't expect him to make it today but never saw pabs, so Duncs and I decided to play matchplay off scratch loser pays for the meal. Duncs took the first 3 holes thought here goes going to get a real beating but a canny bit of gamesmanship and more than a slice of luck the game ended up all square, which basically means Dad buys the meal, lose some lose some!!!

Next week we are expecting Denver to turn up so he I am sure will take a few pics, I took some last week but have forgotton how to make them small enough but when I remember how I will add them in later.

Denver the Deviner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 20th Denver made an appearance this week, lucky for me (????) he ended up my partner verses Duncs and Nicke. On the first I pointed out the rock just off the front of the first tee now named IJ's Rock as he was short of it from his first drive. Denver smashes his first drive 5 yards short of IJ's rock into some bushes to the right of the tee, he calmly places another ball down and smashes this 5 yards short of his first effort into the water to the right of the tee. No probs he hasn't played for a while and needs a couple of holes to get warmed up (????). He had bought 5 balls on the first tee and after losing 4 of them down the first hole I decided to give him another 10 to hopefully get him round to the bar at the 4th where he could reload. after 4 holes we were 4 down and things started looking like a whitewash, time to apply some gamemanship to Duncs who was playing quite well, it seemed to work we halved the 5th and with Denver making a nice 3 at the 6th (net birdie 2) we were starting to think the tide was turning. Nicke made a very nice 4 (net 3) at the 7th game over. Duncs ended up with another equal MTB course record of 39, Nicke had his equal lowest round of 55 so D the deviner and myself would have had to play out of our skins to beat them.

We had a great day and it was really good fun, oh yeah why does the D in Denver stand for Deviner???

He managed to find water on almost every hole and even when we got to holes that water is not in play he managed to somehow get his ball in it. We joked that when he gets back to Iraq they ought to send him out with his 4 iron, he could find water with it even in the desert!!!!

April 27th

Denver, Nicke, Duncan, Devman and myself this week we did expect a. nother, do not know who this was but Nicke said he had spoke to a BM but couldn't remember his name, an older guy, I told Nicke that this described myself, was therefore probably me and off we set.

They wouldn't let us play in a 5 ball again but this week they told us because we didn't have a member with us? So somehow we all teed off at the same time and proceeded to play the first, Denver I would like noted cleared the water this week first attempt and by a long way, birdied the 4th and bogied 5 & 6. Half way up the first they split us into a 3 and 2 ball, so I played with Duncs and Denver, and me and the boy had a head to head off the sticks. Nicke came in with a 56 this follows his 55 (his equal lowest round) from last week and mentioned he had been down the golf range the previous day, Devman racked up an impressive 11 balls lost to water but this was easily exceded by the Diviner (Denver) who lost count after 15 , he managed 5 at the last as he insisted that he would get on the green over the lake, had to stop after 5 cos run out of balls. I would like it noted that I beat the boy 1 up (this is just becoming a little too regular, may have to give him shots soon)

Great day good company and thanks to our old mate IJ who discovered that by ordering off the kids menu at the clubhouse you get huge meals at half price, looking forward to next week think we got the Diz out with us.

May 18th - we havn't played for a couple of weeks cos weather and we have been up to Ubon for wedding (no not mine), so play today was fairly rusty, Duncs and I was joined by Dizbuster, nicke couldn't make it cos Natalie was in hospital, for those that were unaware she is better now and well on the mend.

Diz shot a gross 30, (this is a fact he requested I mention) however he had to retire after 3 holes as his leg was playing up. We continued as a two ball and really nothing special happened except that I lost to the boy 3 'n 2. Oh no just remembered we have a new record first tee shot, we previously had IJ's rock approx 20 feet from tee, this was surpassed and we got Denvers bush at 10 paces from the tee, we now have a new and unbeatable record of Diz's Tee approx 2 mm not once but twice, still the ol boy hadn't played for x number of years and the wind shifted on his back swing and his foot slipped and..............sorry Diz but couldn't let it go without mention!!!!!
