The 9-hole Country Club Course has 18 different teeing positions, allowing 18 holes to be played. This tricky course is particularly suited for low handicap golfers. Water comes into play 90% of the time, ready to punish any wayward shots. High handicappers bring plenty of spare balls!
How many extra golf balls are reccommended? Sounds like there could be some incredible records at this course(most balls lost on a hole, most balls lost on one round, highest score on a hole, etc...). All I know is that my round will be a success if I am able to drive past a certain world famous rock. Will be hitting the driving range the next few days. Want a new driver, and been eyeing one at the local mall. No excuses for me.

A few records from memory, and I certainly stand to be corrected by others who may have even beaten these records. Also note these records are accumulated over the 9 hole course, not by playing it twicw just over the 9 holes.
I will not name and shame nor gloryfy any of the following record holders, you know who you are!!
Shortest Drive on the first - half an inch in 3
Most balls lost on the first - 8, could have been more but he ran out of balls before getting to the green
Most balls lost in a round and admitted to - 17
Highest score on a hole - well it must have been when the guy lost 8 balls but he didn't putt out so, probably a 13 on a par 3, where's Dunc1 when you need his memory, I kind of remember something higher???
Lowest Gross Score - 35, two under par
Longest Drive - 410yds on the 9th
But we do now have many land marks around the course bearing BM's names, such as IJ's Rock, Denver's Bush, Diz's Tee, Pablo's Pond etc etc
Oh and Sweetwiliam, suprisingly I have remembered and will pick you up from Summer Breeze on Thursday at 2.15pm, remember to bring your new driver!!!!

I am now about half way of a first golf clinic to learn to play this game. Although it is hard, I am not unhappy with the progress. By the time I plan to be in Patong again, I may have completed the follow up clinic as well.
Would that allow me to play a game with you guys in Patong, or do you need any kind of special certificate for that?
In Holland you need to have a so called "Golfvaardigheidsbewijs" or a "Golf Ability Certificate" which allows you to play on all courses here.
Who can advise me?

Yes you got it in one , thats what you need to play with these guys.
U reckon as long as you can hit the ball you can play, no cert required.

June 14th
Hello all,
Recently played with the gang at the 9 hole country club course at Phuket Country Club. There were six of us so we split into 2 threesomes. Bernie, Rob, and Denver went off first, followed by Duncan, Nicke, and myself. Rob was very kind to lend me his second set of clubs for the day. Thank you very much Rob. And thanks alot to Denver. After seeing his(Denvers) mighty drive off of tee #1, I wasn't so nervous about hitting my first tee shot. We played from the white tees, which made the par 37 a mere 3205 yards. I played well and shot a 49. Hit some nice drives, and approach shots, but my game around, and on the green was downright pitiful. Nicke played well, and hit some great shots. Duncan was the star of the second threesome, and shot I believe a one over round of 38. Rob and Bernie had some type of bet going which went to the last 2 holes.
For those of you that havent yet played this course it is really nasty. Water, water everywhere. Also there is some well placed out of bounds, sand traps, and sometimes surly caddies if your round starts going to hell. It's hot so drink a lot of water or gatorade. Bring an extra set of clothes with you so you can take a refreshing shower after your round. I didn't bring an extra set of clothes, but it was a good thing as I missed out on the new guy initiation in the showers. Will hit the pool there as it looked like a cool place to be after sweating like hell on the course. After the round the food they served at the country club was quite tasty, and the beer was cold.
Will be bring my own set of clubs on my next trip there next month. Should be up for a round on July 12th, and maybe July 5th if I get some sleep on the planes.

No update here for a while. We still play regulary every week.
Yesterday were no exception. Played with Gecko and Dodger. Was my worst round for ages (maybe because I didnt play for 2 weeks, last week too wet)
But I had one highlight... I was very close to a hole-in-one on hole 6, which is par 3. Had a perfect shot and line, landed 20-30cm ahead of the flag, it was then rolling back and I missed the hole with just a few inches.
Closest I ever been to a flag from tee, needless to say, I got a birdie.

What do you mean 'needless to say you got a birdie', never seen anyone shake so much over a 4 inch putt!!! You know I'd have given it to you Nicke but that Gecko is one competitive son of a gun!!!
For those of you who have met Gecko you may understand my next little bit. He's Irish so therefore sounds a little bit like Padraig Harrington, Very similar build, height and hair colour so looks a bit like Padraig Harrington, was dressed up in his golf gear, so even more like Padraig but crikey you see him walk around the golf course, he even does the lifty up footsteps and 10 to 2 walking style, absolutely spitting image of Padraig Harrington.
Do not know his surname, but would not suprise me in the slightest if it actually was Harrington. Shame his golf game is more related to the guy that made the black zip up coats we wore in the 80's, rather than the British Open Champion!!!
Actually to be fair, he hadn't played for 4 years and had a patchy start, but soon had all those golf muscle memory things coming back. Very smooth, deliberate action, will not be long before he's posting on here letting you know he's taken the money.

lol......Nicke's putt could have went either way given the pressure he was under to sink it. I would have given it to him if he didn't make me putt all my 3 inchers on prior holes!!! 5555 Well done Nicke on what was very nearly a hole in one.
Was a really enjoyable round and I look forward to many more in future. I couldn't believe I only put 3 balls in the drink cos I had 15 with me and ready to purchase more along the way!! Seriously gents yer gonna have to work on keeping your balls in play!! 55555555
Was a great day for it and a far cry from the rainy days we had here last week. We all played well given our different levels of skill. The kiosks every few holes is very handy for ice cold drinks and golf balls etc.
Never thought of myself as a Padraig Harrington lookalike Dodger, but I could get used to it especially if my game improves although don't hold your breath!
I think Dodger has christened just about every part of the course after various bm's mishaps. I'm sure there is a Dodger's Ditch there somewhere!!
Thanks again for the round and I look forward to another one next week. See ya soon no doubt.

So if I would like to join you guys on your weekly play next month, can I and where do I sign up?
And what to bring? Think Dodger mentioned a while back to bring at least your golf shoes. It will be too difficult this time to bring my own clubs.
Thanks for the advise.

I think the only real things you need for sure are money and a shirt with a collar, D-man did not have one and had to borrow mine once, michelin man eat your heart out(did anybody get photos??).
I would not think it would be worth the hassle to bring your clubs all that way if you are only staying a short time.

Bring your shoes although they will let you play in trainers. You can buy everything at the course but could decide to bring glove & tees, don't bother with balls as they are a lot cheaper here.
We play every thursday, let Nicke know you want to come and either meet at his house in patong at 2.30pm or give me a pm and I'll pick you up on the way. (assuming your staying in patong or kamala).
Think that will be the first dutchy we have had play, shame there is not another one, we could have sorted a world championship game!!!!

Thanks Dodger. I will bring my shoes and small stuff. We will be staying in the Summerbreeze and we will have touched down MTB prior to the Thursday.
And ehh... don't have too high expectations on the quality of my game. I just started to play golf 3 months ago. By the time I come over, I will have completed my lessons and have a full permission to play on my own course. But I fear that doesn't say anything
I really look forward to play with some experienced players on a different course than that I am used too.
Can you give me a cost estimate? Like for Greenfee, rental of clubs etc?
Thanks for your help.

green fee and caddy fee is approx 1100bht, think club hire is 600 and 800, depending on quality, although might be 700 & 1000, sorry never hire, but one of the others will know, my guestimate is thereabouts right. Golf balls are 100 for 5 balls, pick ups but usually bagged by make.

Before it was 400/600 for club hire but now 800/1000 baht since last year when they bought new clubs. The price is steel/graphite.

How much is it to get the caddy to play the round for you?
I might be tempted!
