Flooding
I went home today and found out the road from Sansabai to Sai nam yen was flooded, my motorbike did well until last 10m from safe area and then died. I parked it at Patong Hospital and had to take a motorbike taxi home.
Damn, lot of raining tonight but I didnt expect the road to be that bad.
I saw a lot of people walking with their bikes due to this, so I am not the only one.

Nicke, it may pay you to carry a can of WD-40 under the seat of your bike...(not sure what the Thai equivalent is named?)
It's a water dispersant spray.
Spraying it on & around your spark plug lead & electrical connections before you ride off in the wet, would be a precautionary thing to do....as this spray waterproofs the connections.(once water hits the sprayed area, it runs off)
If you hadn't done that beforehand, you could still use the spray later on after ya bike died & spray it on ya spark plug lead & connections.
On my dirt bikes, I have always had my spark plug leads cable tied where they connect to the joiners, to avoid this problem.

The problem with the autos is the air filter is low down.. Once that air filter gets full of water you need to open it up, clean the foam filter, and get all the water out of the airbox.

Craig, good advice.
I've purchased "WD-40" in Thailand before.
It's good to spray all "rust-able" nuts and bolts on your bike, as well.
Also, it works well as a cleaning agent, on adhesive smudges etc. (tacky adhesive smudges and gummy residue, left over from adhesive tape, or cleanup after removing "stickers" etc.)
OK, back to the floods. 55555

Be careful spaying that stuff with the engine running.
WD-40 is flammable and the flash point is 44ºC (engine temperature is much greater).
Any static to bad electrical connection (including water) could be the source or ignition.
The fire tetrahedron comes to mind.

Better still.
I always turn right at the end of Sansabai and left before Jungceylon go up past Banzaan and left into Nanai.Totally avoiding that whole (hole) stretch of road up next to the hospital.
It`s a disaster, especially with the new under size pipes they have recently laid there.
They just can`t cope with any sort of heavy downpour now.

Last thing ya want is 'Rusty Nuts' I know a good pharmacy if required Pablo- very discreet. Local version of WD 40 comes in an orange can, available at the hardware store opposite Soi Sunset, next to Southtours Travel. Loop just beware 'Banzaan Road' when it rains heavily, the Jcn with Nanai will require a mask and snorkel!
