Yes very hot now
The storms have gone and for the last few days it has been very hot.
Your card should work in the ATMs no problem. There is a language choice button on screen after you log in.Then the whole thing is in English.

As most charges are "per transaction" , it is usually cheaper to withdraw the maximum each time.
eg. 1 x 20,000 Baht rather than 10 x 2000 Baht.

I agree
1 big amount 1 fee
10 small amounts 10 fees soon mounts up the cost.
Thats where they make there money

The 20k limit seems to have been increased on my atm card to 30k, is this just me or has this been an increase by every bank?

When I was in Bangkok last October, I could withdraw 20K at a time. Last trip (February) the limit was 10K.

There might be problems with the network though, first time I tried to withdraw 20K it mentioned there's an error and second time next morning I was finally able to withdraw money. Or perhaps it's a security thing and they don't dispense the same amount at nights? Dunno...

Bangkok bank just dropped the daily transfer/withdrawal limit from 100K down to 50K. You have to go apply for permission to got back to 100K. Jerks.

Funny old thing
Last year I had to withdraw a large amount.
Surprise surprise the machine would only give me 20K (This was with my Thai Bank).
I was not happy but my mate said just keep doing the same and lo and behold my machine kept paying out in 20K payments until I got the full amount. What a wonderful world.
Denver: there is a machine near the Esso station that pays out in ROSSO provided you bring your own container.

I use the ATM's for cash, and the limit is usually 20000baht.
This is the max, placed by the host (ATM) bank. They want to gather their $$$ fee's for the transactions...and, the 20000baht limit seems to be arbitrary, but reasonable. You can however, get one after another, 20000baht withdrawal (each time, with a new $$$ fee charged).
I saw a couple of ATM's in Patt's, that had a maximum withdrawal amount of 10000 baht. The transaction fee was the same as for a 20000 baht withdrawal. Seemed "greedy", so I moved on to another ATM site.

I use HSBC and have never had a problem (which is good because they don't have a branch anywhere in Thailand!). I withdraw THB 20,000 at a time and get a VERY competitive rate and the fees are reasonable. I still take about AUD 700 cash with me just in case there is a problem.

When my mate started coming here on holiday regularly, he set up a Thai bank account. He then put roughly the amount he intended to spend and just withdrew money “locally” as he saw fit.
For my bank (Siam Commercial Banks) it’s free for ATM withdrawals on SCB terminals and some 20 BHT fee for others. In any case, better than dragging large amounts of cash around…
